I am trying to install pro-e 2000i2 on windows xp pro. After the installation is complete, i try and run the program, but nothing happens. I have a clean copy of xp pro on my system, not an upgrade. If someone can help me install this program correctly, i would appriciate it.

Thanks,

Marty

My guess from looking at the PTC certification pages is that 2000i2 is NOT supportted on XPpro.

Try to change the compatibily. Right button on your ProE icon, choose properties and then compatibility tab and change the compatibility for win 2000.

Im having a similar problem with pro/e 2001. I have re/uninstalled, but after clicking the icon it just crashes on xp pro. Earlier when i tried the first couple of times, i dont think it gave "bad command or file name". I have changed the compatability, and that does not work. On others it has been able to work fine on theirs.

2001 works fine in WIN XP PRO. I think you have some problems with environment variable or with the system path.

Add in the path variable this: <drive:>\<PROE LOAD POINT>\bin

Add the following variable:

PRO_COMM_MSG_EXE <drive:>\<proe loadpoint>\i486_nt\obj\pro_comm_msg.exe

You must be admin when you install ProE.

I too have problems with ProE with XP. My previous machine ran the program very well, if a little too slowly. I upgraded to a faster machine with more memory (512Mb 3Ghz P4) but Xtop opens up and then freezes. It accepts no input from either keyboard or mouse. I have tried Hora's environmental variables without success.

The only difference is that the new machine has an ATI Raedon 300 PCI Express graphics card. The previous computer (which I still possess) has a basic AGP card.

Any ideas before I replace the Raedon which may be the problem.

Many thanks in advance.

ATI Radeon cards are not usually supported by Pro/E.

"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

I have had no problems with running 2000i2 on my XP pro machine. Also no problems with using an OEM branded 64mb ATI Radeon video card with dual monitor outputs on this machine. Dual monitors are nice when converting legacy autocad drawings to 3d models and not having to switch back and forth or work from a paper copy..

For installation i never had to do anything special, just followed on screen instructions. Only problems i've had are when my company upgraded servers twice and had to rename my machine due to domain controller changes, so i had to reinstall pro/e.
