I upgraded the release from R16 to R18 and the file associations for all catia parts is now missing.

As a result i cant open files by double clicking.

I've tried manually changing the file associations, but i cant find which part of the catia program i need to associate the files with.

Any help appreciated

REGISTER CATIA FILES TO CATIA APPLICATION “REGSERVER”

1. Login as administrator (even if you are in administrators group)

2. open cmd prompt

3. go to (cd) the install directory BXX\intel_a\code\bin

4. run this catstart -run "cnext /regserver"

(this should not open CATIA session, but just register all icons and shortcuts)

Thank you very much for your quick reply

The installation process has also messed up my standards and options. I'm managing to get everything back to how i was but theres one thing that i cant figure out.

When i start a new part the edges are in line thickness "2"(0.35mm)

I'd previously changed it somehow so the default line thickness was "1" (0.13mm), but this isnt happening now and i cant remember how i changed this.

Try browsing your help documents for a document called "Upgrading Standard Files from Previous Releases", under the "Common Functionalities" section. It may help you avoid a lot of work. Both CATSettings and Standards are version specific.

Additionally, be sure that when you install Catia, you observe 1 of 2 rules:

1) Do not accept the default value of "CATEnv" when installing your software. Opt instead, for a value that reflects the version. (e.g., "CATEnvR18") Also, make version specific folders for CATSettings, and point your Environment editor to the created folder. (e.g., "CATSettingsR18)

OR....

2) Delete all previous environment and CATSetting data prior to using the new version. (because it is retained, and old CATSettings can cause problems in new versions)
