Move only upper level component

Hello, I wasn't able to find an answer to my question, so I hope it hasn't been asked before. I have an assembly and I want to reposition the sub assemblies with the move command, however, in these assemblies I have one part that is fixed and the rest of the parts are constraint to the fixed part. In the upper level assembly when I try to move the sub assembly it tells me that the component is fixed, and asks if I want to move it anyway. When I click yes, lots of other constraints blow up that are using the same sub assembly. It is a locking feature for a pin, and is used about 20 other times in the upper level assembly. It almost seems like when I move the sub assembly, it isn't actually moving the sub assembly container, but the parts inside of the sub assembly. Is there anyway to only move the sub assembly container in the upper level assembly? I hope that is clear enough.

Thanks in advance.

Right click on the sub-assy in the Assembly Navigator an select move.

or

Use Quick Pick and select the sub-assy in the list.

Thanks, I have tried that, however it still gives me a "you are trying to move a fixed component. are you sure you want to move it?" No matter what I do. And the only fixed constraint is inside the sub assembly so the sub assembly will be fully constrained within itself.

From your description it sounds like you have assembly constraints in the main assembly that reference the subassembly, correct? If so, you'll have to delete/redefine those constraints before you can move the subassembly.

If you mean that the constraints in the subassembly are getting errors when you try to move the subassembly within the main assembly; that should not be happening - are you sure the main assembly is set as your work part when you attempt the move operation? Be sure to use 'move component' and not 'move object', and make sure you are in the assemblies application.

I was not able to reproduce this problem using NX 7.5.5.4.

I tried multiple Assemblies, each with Sub-Assemblies at the top-level where inside the Sub-Assembly there was at least one 'Fixed' Component, and at that top-level, I had no problem moving the entire Sub-Assembly without any warnings or unexpected results.

I wish that I could send you a file, but unfortunately this is proprietary information, and I kind of think it is a fluke, so I am not sure if I can reproduce it... When I am looking at the assembly navigator the position icon turns from half filled to fixed when I actually move the sub-assembly. And only a few of the other instances of the sub assembly blows up. The only constraints I have on the ones that blow up are a center constraint to center them into a groove, and an axial centerline constraint. I have tried deleting the constraints and remaking them, next I am going to just delete all of the constraints that blow up and see if it gives me the error and try to track it down that way...
