Deselecting Tangent Faces In NX9 Only Deselects A Single Face 1

OMG, NX9 is constantly giving me the urge to shove my fist through the screen. When using operations such as offset face or thicken sheet, if the tangent faces option is turned and you want to deselect all the tangent faces, it only deselects a single face and not all the tangent faces. So now, you have to manually deselect everything.

Is there a way to deselect with the tangent faces option turned on?

- how do you deselect faces ?
I tried it in 9.0.3 , Thicken Sheet, using the "Face rule" = Tangent faces, I click on one face, NX then selected 4 faces, I press Shift and click one face, NX deselects all four.

You can press Shift and drag a rectangle.

Tomas

NX now remembers the Selection Rule that was used when a feature was created and it will default to that when you subsequently edit that feature. If you selected Single Face than that's way it will try to de-select them, or if you selected using Tangent Faces then that's how they'll be de-selected, and this will be irrespective with to what you might have set as the Selection Rule when you tried to perform the de-selection.

Been using NX/UG since late 2000 up to NX8 and that's how it's always been. Select something with tangent faces on, all faces will be selected. Deselect with tangent faces on, all faces will be deselected. This no longer case with NX 9.0.1. Only a the single face is deselected. Our department just migrated from NX8 to NX 9.0.1 and folks here are being driven ape-crap with this.

Can we assume this is a bug that needs to be rectified and not something Siemens changed in the program?

I just tested NX 9.0.3.4 and using 'Offset Surface' as the test case, it worked as I had described above.

Also wanted to add that this is also occurring with tangent curves. For example, joining curves with tangent curves turned on. Selecting a single curve with tangent curves turned on, all tangent curves are highlighted. But to deselect with tangency still on, only a single curve is deselected.

What is the setting of your customer default - Gateway > General > Selection > Deselect All of Intent ?
OOTB is should be on.

For the record, this behavior was changed (and the option added, which in all honesty, I wasn't aware of, only that a change in the apparent behavior had occurred) in NX 6.0.
