How to ask a meaningful question

We engineers speak the language of numbers.
There is no such thing as general solution
for example there are thousands of scales on
the market. With one you can weigh a truck,
with the other one a fruit fly -- Could you
design a cheap one which can do both ?

Let's suppose you want to design a 1 inch iron cube.
If 20 mils tolerance and .99% pure iron is acceptable,
it may be a 15 minutes of design work and a dime a piece.

If the tolerance is .1 mil and the purity is 99.9999 %
it may be a few hundred bucks each.

Adding a few "0"-s and "9"-s after the two decimal points may cost more than a new Manhattan project.

A few more and it will be and will remain forever
mpossible for any price.

So if you want to save time and money : SPECIFY IT !!!
