How to get answers for your SW questions.

This forum is a great place to learn about SW. A big part of learning is knowing what questions to ask. In these threads, topics & features are discussed which may not be covered by a persons usage of SW in their particular field.
However, in the majority (albeit a small majority) of cases, the answer to many of the questions asked in these threads can be found either in the SW Help files or tutorials or by using the Search function and FAQ section at the top of the threads.

If a posted question piques my interest and I don't know the answer, the first thing I do is search those features and as it turns out, many of my replies to other members posts are gleaned from there.

It is obvious that some members are either unaware of, or too lazy to use, these features. So, to the "unaware" members, please take note and try the SW Help and Tutorials and this forums Search and FAQ sections. While searching for what you really want, you will be suprised at what you accidentally find and hopefully remember for future reference.

And to the "lazy" ones .... [cannon] [curse] [machinegun]

Avoid asking multiple unrelated questions in a single thread, you'll get better results if the question is focused on a single well defined issue. Start a new thread for a different topic.

Use a descriptive Subject (thread title). Many of us will ignore the post if the subject doesn't indicate the question. Help!!! is not a good title.

If asking a question about performance or graphic instabilities, include your system specs.

Also, a word of caution to new users of SolidWorks ... When posting questions, you will get a much better response if you refrain from criticising the program. Most people who respond understand your frustration (they were new users at one time too) but after a while the whining and crying can become ... well ... annoying.

Also, also ... when posting a question, an image often helps explain the problem. If you need to post an image or a file for download see FAQ559-1100 & FAQ559-1177.

[!]NOTE:[/!] Eng-Tips has now added its own file upload utility. It can be accessed from the Start A New Thread / Reply section at the bottom of each page.
