Backing up Important SW files

by  SBaugh  Posted    (Edited  )
Which files to back up before upgrading or Removing SW from your Local Hard drive.

1) Copy options Wizard - Saves System Options - Start\Programs\Solidworks\Solidworks Tools\
2) Save your Default Templates - Parts, Assemblies, Drawings - They have your Document Properties saved in there
3) If you have any Keyboard Shortcuts - Save the Folder "User" under your Main Solidworks Directory. In that folder you will see a file that has your Login name.cus
4) Save any Feature Palette items that you might have made custom - C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\data
5) If you have Toolbox installed and you have customized it (or added any bolts, Etc... to your Assembly) you need to backup the Toolbox parts - Go to the location of your Toolbox\Browser\ and copy all the parts to a safe location.
6) If you customized a BOM - C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\lang\english
7) Any Sheet Formats - C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\data

In general if you have customized any files inside of SW or added any files that you use on a daily basis or not, you should back them up. These are just some of the Basic Saves you should be aware of.
