Post builder change full circles to shorter arcs

    Hi. I'm using a CNC controller (Estlcam) that does not support complete circles in one line of G-code. For example, when I import this code: N7 G01 X9.6 Y46.3 N8 G02 X10. Y46.699 I.4 J0.0 N9 G02 X10. Y46.699 Z-4.162 I0.0 J-1.41 K-1.14 The G02 arcs (complete circles) are ignored and replaced...

NX Post processor unit mismatch problem

I'm using the generic 3 axis mill post in NX9 for a part. When I run post and leave the unit setting as "Post Defined", I get metric but I need inch in my program. Though when I open this post in Post Builder it has inch set for "post output unit" in the Machine Tool tab. If, in NX, I change the...

    Manufacturing module questions

I'm starting to work with Manufacturing for the first time and have a few questions: Is there a way to show total machining time for a part? Manufacturing template units don't match model error

Manufacturing template units don't match model error

I'm using NX9 and have a model with units in inches and when I do File/New/Manufacturing tab/Machinery (Express) template with inches as units, I get an error that the template units don't match the part template. If I select General Setup instead of Machinery (Express) then it works fine. Is...

    rehardening 4140HT after flame bending

I need to make some hook-shaped parts from 3/4" OD 4140HT round bar and I'm using an oxy-acetelene torch to heat the rods for bending. Would letting these air cool afterwards just anneal them? Can I re-heat treat and temper them to bring back some strength; what would be the procedure? I don't...
