Method of Design for Floor Plate on Platform

Oh boy... how did I do that. It does help, thank you!

Method of Design for Floor Plate on Platform

Thanks everybody for answering my questions and steering me in the right direction. After reading your comments, I realized that I was using the wrong cross-section when calculating for moment and shear. The calcs have been revised, so I'm attaching them once again. (Good news, I can use 1/4"...

Method of Design for Floor Plate on Platform

Hello everybody, I hope you're all doing well. I would really appreciate some input and wisdom on how to approach a structural design problem I am dealing with. I'm in the middle of designing a floor plate that's going to be the ground floor of a maintenance platform. The plate will be ASTM...

How to oxidize sulphide in wastewater effluents of tanneries with hydrogen peroxide?

Hi Mayo, Have you considered methods of precipitating the sulfide using ferric sulfate or ferric chloride? Given your parameters, it seems like you would get good results. Plus it would be way cheaper than oxidation.

Methods for Removing Inorganic, Soluble CODs

bimr, I want to thank you for all the advice you offered so far. The distillation process is something I considered, but ruled out based off of the high evaporation temperatures of the glycol and white spirits. I've started considering different variations of the advanced oxidation process...

Methods for Removing Inorganic, Soluble CODs

Ok, to give you an update: it turns out that the plant is using a lot of organic solvents for cleaning the ink. These include acetates, alcohols, glycol ethers and white spirits - I believe these are all polar in nature. Methinks you can break the solution either by biodegrading the solvents...

Methods for Removing Inorganic, Soluble CODs

Thanks for the response bimr. I don't have TDS readings, but for the sake of this discussion I would say it's safe to assume low biodegradability. (As I understand it, an anaerobic process is only done in biological wastes, which would rule it out in this case). There may be a way to store the...

Methods for Removing Inorganic, Soluble CODs

Hi All, I have an interesting case where a client who primarily deals in the removal of ink from rags & such is trying to lower the COD levels of their discharge effluent. The wastewater is probably highly toxic, inorganic and soluble. Total COD levels are over 120,000 mg/L. What methods would...
