Bending Moments in Slab after introducing the secondary beam

Yes, there are beams along both directions. Columns are connected by beams on both directions.

Bending Moments in Slab after introducing the secondary beam

The span of the secondary beam is 5 m and the panel size of the slab is 5m x 6.5m.

Bending Moments in Slab after introducing the secondary beam

No. Beam is stiffer than slab. The slab thickness is 125 mm, while the depth of beam is 400 mm.

Bending Moments in Slab after introducing the secondary beam

Dear everyone, I have a query regarding the bending moments in slabs after adding secondary beams. As per the conventional approach, the bending moments in the slab near the secondary beam should be the hogging moment. But in ETABS, I am getting sagging moments near secondary beams which seem to...

Torsion in Beam due to earthquake

Dear everyone, I am getting huge torsional moments in beams due to earthquake forces in ETABS. The slab diaphragm is rigid. Can anyone describe how torsion is induced in beams due to the earthquake force? How is it calculated manually?

Large Shear Force in the beams connecting shear wall and column

Yes, the beams are failing in all floor levels.

Large Shear Force in the beams connecting shear wall and column

Dear everyone, I am modelling a ten storied building with beams, columns and shear walls in ETABS. The building has core shear wall system. The beam connecting the core shear wall and column is failing in shear. The length of this beam is 2 meter. Increasing the size of beam causes the increase...

Retaining wall supported on single pile

The base of slab cannot be extended more than 1.5 meter. This value is fixed as per site condition. The heel cannot be extended as this lies in other's property. I have designed the pile considering the additional moment to stabilize against overturning by the tensile force multiplied by the...

Retaining wall supported on single pile

My wall is 4.2 meter high and base 1.5 meter. I am getting factor of safety against sliding of 0.85 and factor os safety against overturning as 0.6 which are very low. I want those safety factors to be more than 1.55 I am trying to use the pile to satisfy these conditions. I have attached the...

Retaining wall supported on single pile

Dear everyone, I want to design a retaining wall supported on single pile. Can anyone give me tips on how to design the wall and pile? Is there any book for the reference?

    Shear wall Discontinuity

Thanks for all the replies. Most of the shear walls of vault are only at the ground floor. There is only two walls that go to the top. I think I will have to continue these walls to the raft.

    Shear wall Discontinuity

These vault walls are the RC walls of thickness 450 mm. These walls are provided for security reasons as per client requirement. The problem is that these walls cannot be extended to the basement or raft foundation as it will disturb the parking area.

    Shear wall Discontinuity

Dear JLNJ, I also have the same doubt regarding the transfer of forces due to the discontinuity of shear walls. As much of the forces in the basement are taken by the basement walls which run the along the periphery of the building, these vault shear walls carry less load when modelled to the...

    Shear wall Discontinuity

Dear everyone, I am modelling a building for banking purposes. It has vault at the ground floor and parking at basement. The vault has shear wall which cannot be continued to the raft foundation as it disturbs parking area in the basement. I cannot see the effect of this discontinuity in ETABS...

Center of Mass and Rigidity Table ETABS

Dear everyone, Can anyone clarify me the meanings of Mass X, Mass Y, XCCM, YCCM in the center of mass and rigidity table generated by ETABS? Is there any manual where their meanings are written?https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=d8a91f83-dfdd-43a0-864e-b10d35383031&file=Capture.JPG
