    Thank you :)

Twist a solid body in NX 8.5

I used instead of Offset feature, the Thicken feature. It worked good. Insert ---> Offset/Scale ---> Thicken. But at the same time, could you please Mr. Toost attach here the NX file which you modified. Thank you.

Twist a solid body in NX 8.5

Yes it is changing, try to increase and decrease the Offset..

Twist a solid body in NX 8.5

Here is the file. The airfoil now has a certain twist. Why when I want to increase the Offset value (which is minimum now is 0.06 mm), the twist will not show as original ? For example, I want the Offset to be +1.5 mm with same...

Twist a solid body in NX 8.5

Hello, can I twist a solid body in NX 8.5 ? Actually, first I had a sketch where I swept it along a helix. After that I used the Draft option but unfortunately the body is no more twisted as it was(it's an airfoil). Can I know twist it again ??

Difference between Von Mises and maximum Principal stress

Hey all, Thank you for your responses. Yes, I am using tet elements for my mesh. Here is a picture as a print screen from a book says that: For Brittle materials: If the Maximum Principle Stress reaches the Fracture Strength (TRS) of the material, it will fail. So, I'll use it...

Difference between Von Mises and maximum Principal stress

Attached is a picture of the mesh and position of the group of nodal forces applied as a big nodal force (Not to have a concentrated stress if I apply 1 single nodal force). Second, I don't have a yield value in the data sheet. Instead I have the TRS value and K1C and...

Difference between Von Mises and maximum Principal stress

Here is picture 2 (Von Mises) I applied a force of 3500 N.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=1bd3d528-62e3-419f-99ba-e35da064f9ba&file=Von_Mises_1.jpg

Difference between Von Mises and maximum Principal stress

Attached is the first picture of the results I got. (Maximum Principle Stress). Note: TRS value is 3078 MPa while the Von Mises is 17350 MPa !!!!!!!! As you see, it's a huge difference !!! So, can I compare the Max Principle Stress with the TRS and ignore the Von Mises ...

Difference between Von Mises and maximum Principal stress

What is the difference between Von Mises and maximum Principal stress ? I have a Brittle material (WC-10% Co), and I would like to see when it fractures. I have Transverse Rupture Strength value (3700 MPa). Can I compare the Max Priciple Stress with TRS with ignoring Von Mises ?? I am using...

Stress Concentration problem in Ansys Workbench 15.0

I want only to check where failure may occur without seeing the failure behavior and how the crack propagates. Only analysis through the contour colors. Besides, I have the Transverse Rapture Strength (TRS) value (3700MPa), Poisons ration, elastic modulus and K1C only. Can I compare TRS with...

Stress Concentration problem in Ansys Workbench 15.0

The thing is, I don't know the value of the force. That's why I am using FEM to know what maximum force I can apply on the tool before breakage. I tried to apply a force on a bigger area (many nodes together) as attached below. Are the results logical ...

Stress Concentration problem in Ansys Workbench 15.0

My model is so easy. Isotropic Elasticity model using tungsten carbide cobalt as a material. Applying a radial force near the tip of the tool while fixing the clamp. My question now, can I use a Moment instead of the force ?

Stress Concentration problem in Ansys Workbench 15.0

Sorry, I can't get you exactly what you mean. Can I use a Moment instead of a force ? Would it solve the problem and give good results ?
