    Heat loss through ground floor

It's important because I don't know what it is. If I don't make any allowance for heat loss through the floor, the room(s) may be under heated(cool). What I don't want to do is just guess it or put an allowance in. I'd rather know the theory/calculation behind it. Can you assist?

    Heat loss through ground floor

I am struggling with calculating the heat loss through the ground floor of an internal room. Walls, roofs, windows etc. no problem as I have a design external temperature (I use -8C) and known u values and the infiltration rate. For the floor of an internal room I can calculate the PA ratio of...

Loading Units Domestic Hot and Cold Water Supplies

I've been struggling with the application of Loading Units on hot and cold water supplies and BS EN 806. In theory this is a simple method of adding up the units to conclude what supply is required. But what I don't know is whether the loading units allow for both hot and cold water i.e. do you...

    Heat transfer in water heater

Thanks everyone. I know that's it's a bit of a strange situation, but the Client has asked us to investigate it. Just to give you the whole story, it's a single bed holiday lodge with no kitchen. It has only a shower and WHB, hence he thinks that the load will be low. But inevitably, someone...

    Heat transfer in water heater

Thanks for the replies. I know the water heater has a small capacity, but this is what the Client has suggested (for a one bed holiday lodge). I need to have the facts before I go back to him and and tell him it's only going to last 20 mins (or whatever). My calcs show that the ratio of hot to...

    Heat transfer in water heater

I have an interesting problem that I am struggling to solve. I am working on a residential project in which the client would like to install a 100L water storage heater to provide hot water to a shower. The hot water heater has 2No. 6kW elements and the water flow required is 0.15 L/s to the...
