    Shear Reinforcement

Dear All, I am currently doing a building in ETABS. For columns how do I get the area for shear reinforcement. When I didn't the concrete frame design in ETABS I got the percentage for the main bars. But when I do for shear reinforcing the value is coming as Asv/s = 0.263 etc. What does this...

    To calculate long term deflection

Thank you for your reply. Well its blockwork that is coming above the slab. so I guess to go with 20mm deflection and here we have to follow BS code..

    To calculate long term deflection

Thanks... I am doing flat slab with perimeter beam. so I guess you are suggesting to go with considering 20mm deflection.

    To calculate long term deflection

Thank you for replying. What do you mean by secondary span & primary span. The formulae that you have suggested is for immediate deflection rite? I read in Reynolds handbook, that the deflection should not be more than 20mm. So shall we follow that.

    To calculate long term deflection

Hello Guys!! Currently I am working on a project. Can anybody tell me how to calculate long term deflection for flat slab. I am working on SAFE12. As per BS 8110 what is the limit for long term deflection. I want to check if the thickness that I have provided is safe or over design. Please...

    Different flat slab thickness

Thank you guys for your suggestions. Can you tell which code to refer and where. just wanna be on the safer side.

    Different flat slab thickness

Greetings to all, I am currently doing a design for a G+Mezanine+3floors+roof. Here I am using flat slab as the its a multi purpose building so the wall to wall doesn't match. Ground 7 mezzanine floors have lots of vacant space were as 1st to 3rd floors are accommodation. so there...

    Set Modifiers In ETABS

Dear All, In ETABS while assigning the frame section we give certain values in SET Modifiers option. Especially for torsional constant, Moment of inertia abt 2 axis, Moment of inertia abt 3 axis. On what basis do we give these values. For eg if am using a Column of size 200x600mm what...

    Importing from ETABS to SAFE

What I meant is that we will get the stress value of the slab in ETABS but design part it is better to import to SAFE. We will get reinforcement details and also we could do the foundation design also
