    Crane Impact Loads

I am trying to find another reference to the crane impact loads. ASCE 7-05 Section 4.10 lists the following impact ratios for different type of cranes which is similar to AISC ASD 9th Edition Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings 1989. ASCE 7-05 4.10.2 Vertical Impact Force. The...

Diagonal Reinforcement at the base of conrete wall

When you say same reinforcement can be used to resist flexure and shear friction, I assume you mean the vertical dowels bwtween the wall and the slab/mat not the diagonal bars, right?

Diagonal Reinforcement at the base of conrete wall

Thank you JAE for your response. I am looking at page 20-2,20-3,20-4 of the CRSI manual dated 1988. I think you are referring the D800, which I agree with you. Bottom bars are bent and doweled in to the stem to help with shear resistance. However the diagonal bars that I was referring on figure...

Diagonal Reinforcement at the base of conrete wall

I could be able to find a clear answer to why diagonal reinforcement is used at the base of the wall (wall-mat interface) other than two places on ACI code One of them is a statement on section R6.4.3 of ACI 350-01 which states that diagonal dowels/reinforcement may be whenever a force transfer...

    Minimum Reinforcement ACI-318 10.5

As you all know, we need to provide minimum reinforcement to prevent sudden failure of concrete sections. This amount is determined on ACI 318-02 on section 10.5 with equation 10-3. I was wondering how this equation is derived and simplified to this form. I can imagine that this equation is...
