    Thanks, anyways Al, but the dirt is trapped where I can see it but i can't remove it.

    I'm trying to weld an insert in an old aluminum boat. Coast Guard makes you weld 3 inches past new weld on bottom at round bar. My question is how to weld to the old trapped in dirt that I can't grind out. My weld must pass a dye pen test. I can't get a good weld where the dirt is trapped...

    Dye pen removal

    I have to weld a crack in aluminum in a tight spot on a boat. I'm using 5356 alum wire. Can I use acetone to remove dye pen?
