    Heat Treat Inquiry - 4130 Material - Sour Service - Yield @ 400°F >68,500? API6A

Going to try a normalize, water quench, temper. Then going to try raising the austenitizing temp, temper. Then going to try a combination of the two. Everyone I have spoken to in real life (not online) has said the quenchent would not make a specific difference in my situation. mfgenggear -...

    Heat Treat Inquiry - 4130 Material - Sour Service - Yield @ 400°F >68,500? API6A

4130 was the first choice, again sour service, there was discussion about using 4140. Do you think 4140 with similar heat treat as above; Water Quench – 1600°f - 5 hours, Temper – 1215°f - 6 hours, Hardness – 235 Bhn, will work?

    Heat Treat Inquiry - 4130 Material - Sour Service - Yield @ 400°F >68,500? API6A

Hi, Forged part(s) ~220 lbs. each Material Grade - 4130 Sour service Yield needs to be >68,500 with testing done at 400°F At room temperature we hit ~75,000 yield for this. According to API 6A Appendix G, for 4130 you need to de-rate the material 88% for a testing temperature 400°F, which...

ASTM A705, A564 Type 630 (17-4 PH) Severe Cracking After Heat Treat

We changed ingot size from ~46" Round to ~26" square for forging of the subject line material. Forged the ingots down to H-20”, W-28”, L-21 ft, we made the switch to save time in forging (Open Die). This was the only major change in process After cooling to 90° we placed in furnace, ramped to...

    NACE MR0175 & EN 10204

Customer has specified that they want material 316ss for a forging and material must indicate NACE MR0175 and EN 10204 3.1b - Dimension ~27" Diam. x 7" thick Both of these are new for us. I have determined that there is no “NACE Test” that can be used to certify that a material meets MR0175...

    Aluminum Difference Between 2219-T62 & 2219-T6?

Our Heat treater explained it as such "T6 for this alloy is aged @ 375 deg F 26hrs, T62 is 36hrs" For my purposes this is good enough,

    Aluminum Difference Between 2219-T62 & 2219-T6?

We are forging. Customer requested a change from 2219-T62 to 2219-T6. What's the difference, if any. What should I look out for in process? Any heat treat information they look to be identical, I am not very experienced with Aluminum. Thank you

4330 Modified (3.40 Ni) Charpy Results Failing - Need Heat Treat Advice

Our Ingots are not re-melt VAR or VIM-VAR. Some of the parts have been milled prior to quench, did not have influence on mechanicals (same result as hot top or spout)

4330 Modified (3.40 Ni) Charpy Results Failing - Need Heat Treat Advice

We have looked at microstructure to a degree, more precise grain size. Old heat treat that was failing miserably ~2.5, new heat treat with good results 6.5-7.5. The good result as quenched hardness's have been 451-460. Of the three chemistries, do you see one that stands out as better for...
