HI dears ;
AS far as I know about meshing for shells there are rules governing meshing or drawing areas:
a. Shall connect the corner of area to columns or shear walls otherwise incompatibility problem will arise.
b. Shall not have a distorted shape( internal angles between 45 and 135).
c. Shall...
Dear KootK (Structural);
Thanks a lot for your response. I have to add something that analytically there is a defference that for spandrels we have m11=m22=m12=f22=f12=0.35 but for pier m11=m22=m12=f11=f12=0.70 .
My question appear obviuosly if you see the attached picture.
Best regards and...
Dears;
I am appreciating your acknowledgment
Also I would like to thank you for your interests to teach people.
I have a quesion about:
1. I have a shear wall so when I consider the shell element as spandrel and when it behaves like a pier?
2. What is the difference in behaviour between them, I...
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INTEREST.
I AM ATTACHING TO YOU A PICTURE FOR WHAT I MEAN.

An important issue that because SAFE is Finite element Program, the values of shear & Moment when averaged to small width the result will be larger than when averaging to large widths. The problem for me: What width shall be used for Vu calculation or Mu ...especially when staggered...
