    ASME IX 2019 QW-288.1

I have not had any experience with asking the code committee. I assume I follow the instructions in the code. It seems there are quite a few more that I've found since posting this.

    ASME IX 2019 QW-288.1

Also Table QW-288.1 lists QW-403.32. When looking at this paragraph it seems to be mislabeled and should be QW-403.31 QW-403.32 is a change in P number.

    ASME IX 2019 QW-288.1

Good morning, everyone. I just started going through the 2019 ASME IX code book and noticed what I believe is an error. Let me know if I am missing something. Table QW-288.1 for tube to tubesheet welding procedure qualifications Under joints it shows QW-402.32 - A change in joint...

UNS N06625 Annealed Grade 1 - Filler Metal

Good morning, all. I am currently working on coming up with a welding procedure to ASME VIII / IX and API 582. Base Material SB-443/SB-444 Grade 1 Annealed 120 ksi Welding Codes: ASME IX / API 582 I have been informed that the choice of the higher grade of this material was to reduce base...

    4130 Martensite Start - Preheat / Interpass

Good afternoon, all. I have been doing some reading of various ASM books, technical papers, and the like but I cannot seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. Here goes. I am trying to understand whether or not to preheat my weld coupon to above the Ms point and if I should keep it at this...

    4130 Preheat and Interpass

Have you tried using that FCAW wire before? I've had problems in the past using it under prolonged PWHT meeting my mechanical requirements. Why 5G? I'm not extremely familiar with B31.3 so that might be your reasoning.

    ASME SECTION VIII DIV1

Please rephrase your question so someone may be able to assist you further.

    thin wall qualification

It states minimum base metal. As for the design criteria, be careful as some customers require specific joint geometry vs just an all weld metal buildup.

    "R' Stamp Question

Off the top of my head I believe it to be a few to several thousand if you are starting from scratch. It really depends. Call up your AI and have him give you some information.

    4130 Preheat and Interpass

Are you sure this isn't the material requirement and not the welding requirement? As metengr states for the interpass temperature. It may need to be reduced depending on the filler that you use for your toughness properties. If you have issues with the hardness values using a 300-400°F preheat...

    "R' Stamp Question

The steps to take will be somewhat similar to the steps taken to get your U stamp. Speak with your Authorized Inspector. In our case it is the same inspector for both U and R stamps. Your AI can guide you. It's not cheap.

    4130 Preheat and Interpass

HMN, our bread and butter is 4130 welding. My first question would be whether or not you are required to meet NACE MR0175 250 Vickers requirement. Depending on the part/application we preheat our PQRs at 400-550F. Normally you will stress relieve this at 1175°F for an amount of time that will...

    Hastelloy Sheet Metal

Maybe this is why I was having problems. I reached out to Haynes, Special Metals, and so far the only one that may have it available in stock is Zapp in Switzerland. Awaiting their contact. Thanks for the information though Ed, I was reading from the engineering material spec and didn't even...
