    SMYS Rating Prefix

    Can someone explain the prefix letter on SMYS ratings. For example I have always seen pipe with an X (i.e. X42, X52). But I have seen fittings listed as F52 or Y60. What is the difference between the prefixes?

    Is there a standard for calculating Actual Gas Flow for diaphragm meters? I am aware of AGA standards for rotary, orfice, ultrasonic and corlios meters but I am unaware of anything for diaphragm meters.

    Sch 40 vs Sch 80

    Can you mix Sch 40 and Sch 80 pipe/fittings? For example I am having a hard time finding 3/4" Sch 40 API 5L FBE Seamless pipe, but I can find Sch 80, Is it okay to upgrade to Sch 80 and intermix with Sch 40, or will the fittings and pipe not connect properly?

    Butt Fusion vs Electro Fusion

    Yes I was talking about PE pipe. I am typically dealing with 2" to 8" MDPE pipe and I am trying to determine which type of fittings (e.g. elbows, tees, reducers) would be best to specify for a natural gas distribution main (either butt fusion or electro fusion).

    Flange Ratings and Bolt Patterns

    When specifying flanges, is it possible to abut different ANSI ratings to each other (e.g. 150# abutting to a 300#)? Or will there be problems with the bolt pattern, gasket, etc., not fitting correctly?
