Per ASCE chapter 12, I know that if the flat roof snow load exceeds 30psf (or 45 psf per ASCE 7-22), then 20% of the uniform snow load (15% per ASCE 7-22) is added to the effective seismic weight.
However, in ASCE chapter 15.4.3 (for non-building structures), it says to add the snow load...

So I know the IRC and IBC has detailed portal frame criteria as long as the certain limitations are maintained. There’s even an APA documents which shows capacities (TT-100).
How does one engineer a portal frame outside the IBC/IRC limits?

This question is in regards to a simple 41ft long x 17ft wide x 17.58ft tall RV garage.
Not sure how to do the shear wall for at the large opening (12ft wide x 14ft tall), without doing a Simpson Strong-Wall.
I can't seem to do a portal frame per the IRC, the IRC limits this to 10ft max...
