Sourcing parts for small generator UK

Just curuious. How did you go with your spare parts hunt? I'm in a similar situation. Looking for a Chinese ignition coil. In my case, a search for the part number on the component was unfruitful. I've ordered one that looks identical, but appearances can be deceiving.

Wiring diagram for a petrol generator required

Hi Brian That’s one of the better videos I’ve seen. It took me back to my high school days with its detail of the atom. Great stuff. The guy presented it very well. He also went to a great deal of effort to prepare the visuals. I can’t say that I’ve come across a trigger coil before, or at...

Wiring diagram for a petrol generator required

I’ve never heard of a wasted spark design. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Interesting. The idea makes me smile! Only because I’m thinking of a situation of there being some unspent fuel in the cylinder at the end of the exhaust stroke or, in fact, as the cylinder is filling with air &...

Wiring diagram for a petrol generator required

Thank you for the detailed notes, Brian. It was good of you to take the time. I have certain skills that led me down the path you described. However, there were a few surprises and stumbling blocks. Hence my request for a circuit diagram. I suspect the ignition coil is the problem. It has a...

Wiring diagram for a petrol generator required

Thanks for that RedSnake. It was good of you to look. I found that one too. Though, I already have a paper copy as well. I got excited when I spotted the web address on the last page of the manual, but when I checked it found that address is dead. I'm really surprised I couldn't find the...

Wiring diagram for a petrol generator required

Chances are they all come from the same factory, but get different brand names stuck onto them as they leave the factory. I'm hoping that's the case. A good suggestion about eBay. I've had been looking on Facebook. Seen nothing to date. Waross, if someone came to me with a box of disassembled...

Wiring diagram for a petrol generator required

Too late for that. I have it in pieces. Do you have any documentation?

Wiring diagram for a petrol generator required

I’m looking for the wiring diagram for a petrol-driven electric generator. My web searches have yielded little. Possibly, someone on this forum has a source. My little generator has lost its spark and consequently won’t start. It’s possible I can fix this by fumbling around. I’d rather locate...

Should pipe based structures (RHS SHS CHS) be sealed or have their ends left open?

Thanks for the link PP. It’s an old article but still relevant, and exactly what I was looking for. I was impressed to read that when sealed hollow sections were cut open for inspection, after such long periods of time (more than 50 years in some cases), that the internal surface often showed...

Should pipe based structures (RHS SHS CHS) be sealed or have their ends left open?

As engineers, does this issue concern you? When you look up to exposed trusses in a new shopping centre mall or the spans in a multi-lane bridge that you’ve had a hand in building or designing, do you wonder how much corrosion is occurring on the inside of those enclosed structures? And...

Should pipe based structures (RHS SHS CHS) be sealed or have their ends left open?

I fancy that if a tiny animal can go in then it can leave at its leisure. Though, aren't we referring to holes maybe 2-3mm in diameter? Insects might make a nest inside.

Should pipe based structures (RHS SHS CHS) be sealed or have their ends left open?

My original post hoped to elicit your experiences in civil engineering. My interest was academic only. The images were picked up from the web in a random search. I think they're beautiful. Do you think they might have, or if you had designed them, would they have included drain holes to allow...

Should pipe based structures (RHS SHS CHS) be sealed or have their ends left open?

It's quite a skill to weld 1 mm thicknesses. I had some experience many many years ago, and recall vividly of allowing the flame to overheat the metal and have it explode in a spray of hot metal in the workbay, leaving a hole where I needed a weld.

Should pipe based structures (RHS SHS CHS) be sealed or have their ends left open?

Hi LittleWheels, I doubt there would be any blowout of metal unless very thin stock was involved. Heavy stock would likely be able to resist the effect of higher air pressure on the inside, and as the material cools the effect would be reversed. There may be a negative air pressure on the...

Should pipe based structures (RHS SHS CHS) be sealed or have their ends left open?

There are many tubular steel structures in the world. Circular, square, rectangular. Combinations of all three. Many of these structures are capped at the ends by welding a plate in place. It's commonly done. Aesthetics is one of the reasons. Another being to protect the internal surfaces from...
