    Opening and closing gate valve

If the case is the gate valve disk is stuck open ( or not totally stuck but heavy ) WhenI come to move hand wheel , would the handwheel slide up the stem ? Or still only stem would move down . And what forces hand wheel from climbing up the stem in this case ?

    Angeled globe valve

What are applications of angeled globe valve ? And what makes it different from normal globe ?

    Valve trim

What does the expression trim of valve mean ? Does it refer to valve seat only ? Or it points seat and disk ?

    What is slip type joint

I am reading a book about valves and it says stem of valve can be attached to disk using some methods , one of them is : in slip type joint . Is that a type of welding method ?

Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality

Hi all I want to know ventilation required for an ICU , the following screenshot is from the ASHRAE standard . Why is the cfm/ft2 column empty ? does this mean that its designed only on number of people ?

What are months an air conditioning cooling system should work

Hi all , I have assembeled an air conditioning system on software and I want to determine the days where the system should work . The air conditioning is system is used only for cooling (no heating) . For that case , what is the default time for system to run used by hvac designers ?

    psychrometric chart question

Hi all , Knowing that wetbulb temperature and enthalpy lines are not identical (only approximated on chart) . I have a point of known wetness (kg/kg) and known dry bulb temperature and I want to know it's exact enthalpy . Then indentify the point that has the same enthalpy with an RH% of 100% ...

Characterization and Manufacture of Bevel gear

I understand that this job needs someone experienced to handle it .The old gears have been sent to a specialized workshop to make identical copies .Financial resources are very limited where I work. What I'm asking about is the methodology and measurements I would take either to accept the...

Characterization and Manufacture of Bevel gear

Hi all , I have bevel gear that works on ring gear (pinion and ring) simillar to the one in the following picture : I want to charachterize the small bevel gear (pinion) to give the measurements to a workshop to manufacture copies for this gear or buy it. Also I'd like to take an idea about...

    Bulk modulus of compressibility

Well that should be a basic question but for me it needs some clarification . for the bulk modulus of compressibility : K = - dP / (dV/V) why does K = 0 for compressible fluids ?? ,,,, I think of it like if we compress gas ie:decrease a certain masses volume (compressible fluid) its pressure...

    Minitab experiment question

I'd like to clarify more what I want to do : - All main factors were as I mentioned before 13 - 5 = 8 , and the number of two factor interactions of interest are 11 . The rest of 2 factors interactions and all 3 factor interactions and above are negligible . - My concern is to follow the same...

    Minitab experiment question

Thank you greg , I'm trying to figure out how to do this with matlab know (it might be a bit complex since I'm not a major in statistics). This step has already been done , they were even more and got down to 13

    Minitab experiment question

Hi , What if I want to conduct a fractional factorial 2^13-5 experiment with minitab , I mean its a 2^13 and i want to make it a fractional factorial of V resolution so it will be 2^13-5 = 2^8 ,,,, can this ever be done with minitab ? can you recommend another software name that can do such...

determining suction and delivery lines of centrifuagal pump

Well I don't have a picture its an engineering job interview question (orally) are you sure ? I thought that was for the compressor only. The only thing I can think about now is that the discharge might have a check valve while suction not . Maybe the discharge might have a flow control valve...

determining suction and delivery lines of centrifuagal pump

For a centrifugal pump what significant signs I can see from outside of a real pump mounted in a system in order to differentiate between suction and delivery lines of centrifugal pump ?
