Hello All. Hopefully this is the best place for this question. It did not seem applicable to other forums.
The question I have is I have a horizontal configured storage tank with capsule ends that is set on an angle for drainage. I need to know what the volume of this tank is at any height the...
IFR and EngAddict. That was my first thought was some sort of flexible rubber skirt around it. Just was not sure what type of material and the best way to attach it.
The coefficient of friction would be too high with that size of PTFE pad. As the pressure increass the friction decrease. Sounds counter intuitive but that is the explanation that I got from the engineering firm who designed the pads. Even if we did have the same size pad as saddle I would...
Raising that high will still not prevent steam or water to get under the saddle plate. Also, that is not an option as the architectural design of the room will not allow it.
jtseng123, it is a horizontal tank, not a vessel technically. This will not be pressure rated or air tight. I've moved the post here >http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=329495 as this seems more appropriate for that forum. Did not see that on the list of forums when I posted it here...
My question is that I have a horizontal storage tank with one floating saddle on teflon pads. These tanks have a high cyclical load from thermal expansion so it will need to allow some flex in it. This will be in a pharmaceutical clean room with a lot of water and steam. What I need help with is...
My question is that I have a horizontal liquid storage tank with one floating saddle on teflon pads. These tanks have a high cyclical long from thermal expansion so it will need to allow some flex in it. This will be in a pharmaceutical clean room with a lot of water and steam. What I need help...
I have an application where we use hot water and steam to sanitize storage tanks. Currently the tanks are vented inside of the room but I want to use some sort of steam trap at the vent to capture the steam. Venting to outside is possible but in the summers the ambient exterior temperature can...
Yeah, the contoact pressure is what I want. The problem I am having is that I can't get the fixtures correct. The plate is floating on the "bearings" with the load pretty much uniformily distributed. All I want is to have a uniform load of 120,000 pounds distributed onto the three bearings. I've...
Thank you guys for all of your help on this. I think I've gotten my design and have found a supplier to make it for me. The company recommends that I have a minimum applied force of 75 psi on the pads during the expansion cycle though. Does this sound correct? Under these guidelines I will use...
I posted this in the wrong forum so I am going to put it on here.
I am trying to determine the amount of stress that is occurring to a plate that is being supported by three bearings. I am not sure if my results are coming out correctly or not. The intent is to have the bearings fixed and a...
I've also attached the assembly that if this helps you understand what I am working on.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=c75d0ca9-383a-4949-8d6e-611a5874ab30&file=Bearing_Load_Study.zip
I am new to working with the simulation program in Solidworks and hoping this is the right location to ask this question. I am trying to determine the amount of stress that is occurring to a plate that is being supported by three bearings. I am not sure if my results are coming out correctly or...
