Importing geometry (.stp) in femap 11.2

There is no problem with reading this file. I see also pipe with two flanges, but the problem is that in model tree, under geometry I get two shells (instead of one solid). Please see the difference between two pictures I posted in my previous message. regards VonFea

Importing geometry (.stp) in femap 11.2

So you get one solid geometry and you have femap version 11.2? This is what I get with femap 11.2 (And it's not right) http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=19471347-16b0-4d59-a200-02ebc69ae8c7&file=two_shells.JPG And this with Femap 11.1.2 (this is correct)...

Importing geometry (.stp) in femap 11.2

Hi, Does anyone else have problems with importing step-geometry in new femap version 11.2? I have tried to import this closed pipe (solid geometry) to new femap but result is two shells (inner and outer surface). I also tried to import this same file to previous version 11.1.2 and it's working...

    Inventor studio lights

Hi, Does anybody know is there a restriction for maximum number of lights in inventor studio? Everything goes smooth to light number 8 but after that lights have no effect. Sometimes I can get light number 9 on, but then light number 8 (or some other) goes off. Best Regards VonFea

Nonlinear wind pressure load on a cylindrical surface

I got it now! I think the problem was that I forgot to save the data surface editor. Thank you very much for help! :) Regards VonFea http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=fc01fa25-ea6d-45fc-b608-71b442dfd560&file=wind_pressure3.JPG

Nonlinear wind pressure load on a cylindrical surface

I already tried that. Same outcome :( http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=f7686097-bf0a-42c0-aee4-60cdcf466877&file=pressure_on_elements3.JPGhttp://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=f7686097-bf0a-42c0-aee4-60cdcf466877&file=pressure_on_elements3.JPG

Nonlinear wind pressure load on a cylindrical surface

I check element normal vectors and those are correct. I get error message "Unable to create 620 Load(s) on Element(s). Locations in Data Surface evaluate to zero or are outside the extents of the Data Surface." I tried to change all zero values to something else but it didn't help...

Nonlinear wind pressure load on a cylindrical surface

Hi, I haven't use pressure directly on elements very often. Can you tell me what to choose in "face selection" dialog box...

Nonlinear wind pressure load on a cylindrical surface

Hi, Thanks for the excellent tips. I got the nonlinear pressure, but I have little problem with the distribution. When I expand the load it shows only on half circle. Is there something wrong with my data surface? Pressure load...

Nonlinear wind pressure load on a cylindrical surface

I know I should use cylindrical CSYS and THETA direction to vary the load, but I don't know how to do it in practice. Here is the function I have created (I think you can find my mistake here more quickly). X is angle in radians and Y is factor to multiply basic pressure. I think the problem is...

Nonlinear wind pressure load on a cylindrical surface

Hi, I’m trying to model nonlinear wind pressure load on a cylindrical surface (see attachment). I think I should use cylindrical coordinate and function dependent pressure load. Does anyone have an idea how to create a function for this? Pressure should change in proportion to angle. Regards VonFea

Is there a tool in FEMAP for stress linearization?

Hi BlasMolero, Is this Stress linearization tool a free update or does it cost something? Best regards VonFea

    Stress linearization tool

Hi, Thank you Prex and TGS4 for your exellent answers! I think I got this now. EN 13445-3 calculation is made like Prex stated because the formula is σij,l=σij,m+σij,b without any special requirements. While in ASME there are requiremets: Bending stresses are calculated only for the local hoop...

    Stress linearization tool

Hi, Prex- So you mean that you are right and TGS4 is wrong? :) Or did I misunderstood what TGS4 meant? Does TGS4 wan't to comment this? Regards VonFea
