what is old is new again ...

In the fuel crisis of the mid 1970s airlines were scrambling for max fuel efficiency from the old legacy jets... such as 707s, 727s, 737-200s, etc... so the call went out.. find ways to conserve fuel! Example: Taxi with [1, twin] or [2 of four] engine where possible. Spool-up/check/rev-up the...

Help Identifying Callouts in an Old Drawing

MAYBE MIL-STD-1 [and thru MIL-STD-24] might help interpretation... The MIL and the drawing are about the same era. also NAS30 and NAS31 [surface roughness C/Os might help. What company's name is on the drawing?

DO-160G Vibration Test for Electric Drives and Gearboxes

Hope this make sense... I am not 'dialed into all the analysis/testing', etc for eVTOL.. but here are a few thots to chew over... especially for human flight... and e-power-train issues... that don't seemed to have any 'honorable mention'... Every prop, gear box and motor and their use in...

    Insurance Cut

LD, SW... I mostly agree... although I used the term 'insurance-cut' exclusively related to damage repair of adhesive-bonded-metal or all-composite or aluminum/composite sandwich [core] bonded structure. Outline the damage, as detected by ultra-sonic... or tap-test... etc... THEN extend the...

    Boeing ... WTF ?

Hmmm... I wonder exactly/roughly-what parts appear to be affected? PS: Sometimes, when production is interrupted by natural disasters, parts problems, holidays, strikes, etc... re-start is a painful process. One particularly memorable event for me was a tornado-outbreak that forced evacuation...

    Boeing Drawings

As I understood it long ago and far away, EACH drawing sheet has its own revision letter... but Sheet 1 was always the lead-sheet for revisions... and has the highest Rev letter. The first sheet could be Rev X but that Rev incremented when any of the subsequent sheets were changed or added...

    Omniscient Elon Musk seez....

Spaceflight is hard... it would be crazier-dangerous-hard... without a continuously trained, corps of space-hardened astronauts... 'at home' in long duration spaceflight including EVAs, working experiments, testing hardware, encountering new/unique demands, honing leadership and teams-skills and...
