Free online tools to identify closed basins

closed basins are easy to ID for engineers. WMD boards have NON technical people that approve development permits. Tool is to hilight the closed basin to insure that ALL persons realize the existence and criticality of CLOSED basins in runoff path of new development. Note that law/rules and...

Free online tools to identify closed basins

Qgis might be an answer.... per USGS input Thanx for streamstats idea. What I want is to ID and hilite closed basins on topo map to prove where they are. Fl WMDs MUST limit discharge rate and volume to closed basins. Regular open basins must meet only 25yr/24 hr storm... but closed ones must...

Oroville Dam Spillway Leaking (Again, 18 March 2019) As Waters Rise (Again) Behind Dam

Just read in NY doc on dams... that seepage often appears as spring. Maybe that is the cause for the wet spot on dam downstream face to far right at ellipse centerline of about 650 ft. If dam shows seepage... then same issue would be likely to present itself under spillway. Same designers...

Oroville Dam Spillway Leaking (Again, 18 March 2019) As Waters Rise (Again) Behind Dam

great. that answers ALL my questions.. doubts. These flow paths were NOT visible in other pics.

Oroville Dam Spillway Leaking (Again, 18 March 2019) As Waters Rise (Again) Behind Dam

just found pic from 2013 of spillway... posted by cswilson on failures and disasters thread. Shows 4 trucks on spillway at same spot where above pic in this thread has water starting to flow down spillway. This is very near where huge spillway failure occurred. Do NOT think these pics are...

Oroville Dam Spillway Leaking (Again, 18 March 2019) As Waters Rise (Again) Behind Dam

What I posted earlier was a theory on how water MIGHT be hitting the underside of spillway. First post did NOT say it flowed thru and then down spillway, merely it might surface under it. Guess that is not problem cause it has not been observed. HAve gpr, grnd penetrating radar, probes of...

Oroville Dam Spillway Leaking (Again, 18 March 2019) As Waters Rise (Again) Behind Dam

Has anyone done analysis of pancreatic flow line changes at dam due to spillway failure? What is elevaTion of green spot on dam? Is it same height as current leak under repaired spillway? If yes then it i is probably fed by groundwater. I think the phreatic flow line split in two when dam...

    siphon limits

Theoretical Limit of lift to siphon by physics and bernoulli (and in most published sources)is about 32 ft, decreases with altitude with lower density air. YET in practical life, said lift is about 20 ft at sea level and drops 1 ft per 1000 ft of altitude. Why the great diff? You can NOT lose...

    bell siphon

what is MAX difference is start and stop elevations for a bell siphon using water at sea level? I would think that Bernoulli equation would rule here. And you get about 10 meters or 33 ft. Civil engr texts limit it further to 20 ft minus 1 ft for every 1k in elevation.... to account for lower...

    bell siphons/covered standpipes

Looking for data on bell siphon. Will they work at height of 100 ft over pond? 50 ft? Don't think normal 20ft or 33 ft 1 ATM limit applies to bell syphon. Can you fill syphon from top with proper valves and seals to prevent having to fill shole reservoir? Where can I find data on predicted...

pond invert elevation, high tailwater in pond

Fl and county just 4 laned road by me. If permanent pool of wet detention pond extends way back into the inlet pipe..... inlet pipe of Pond 1 for SR 415 is 2.2 ft submerged always. It's top elev is 5.5 ft (invert is at 6 inches and pipe is 5 ft diam) and permanent pool elev is 8.7. I believe a...

riser installed on downstream end of pipe

Very funny, but I am victim of this bungle. I own 19 acres N of mitigation bank that has poor design n construct. No anti seepage collars, pipes too small, half round risers with inlets Only one third size of barrel oufall when they should be 1.5 times that. NEED TECH ANSWER TO EMBarass Fdot...

What is best way to repair culvrt headwalls built with no steel rebars? Structures show seepage and piping and many stru tures have failed.
