Hydraulic component selection to cycle pressure?

I need some direction in picking a component set for a hydraulic rig I want to build. I am upgrading my existing hand jack setup (which is great for static forces) to something with active controls and the ability to cycle pressure. It needs this functionality: Pressurize hydraulic cylinder...

Mysterious middle of the night noise in RTD causing damage? Induced AC current?

See attached log of RTD data. 9 RTDs in close proximity. 3 start acting very strange in the middle of the night for ~10 minutes, and it appears to cause damage to one which reads ~60C low the next day (of course screwing up all operation). 100 Ohm Pt element, 3 wire. We're trying to diagnose...

Odd behavior of chilled water circulator w/ high elevation gain

Speaking with chiller manufacturer tomorrow morning about our issue, also ran it past our pipe engineer. They both have beef with flowmeter placement and air vent valves. Its a little troubling that neither seem to be particularly worried about the 32 foot water column limitation. I might have...

Odd behavior of chilled water circulator w/ high elevation gain

its 3/8'' copper dropping down to the chiller. Ii suppose the best question would be: is there an off the shelf component to prevent this action which doesn't involve a pressurized reservoir? LittleInch mentions a back pressure valve - does this go on the return side before rotameter? Photo...

Odd behavior of chilled water circulator w/ high elevation gain

I wouldn't say the at-height vent valves qualify as an atmospheric vent in the same way the reservoir would. See these items: http://www.mcmaster.com/#air-vent-valves/=pgvzfg

Odd behavior of chilled water circulator w/ high elevation gain

Last question - is it reasonable to assume nothing will be damaged if the cascading falling action is allowed to continue through copper return tube, back to the refrigerator reservoir?

Odd behavior of chilled water circulator w/ high elevation gain

Thank you for the reply. A problem which i suspected but couldn't articulate. Let me change the scenario on you. We have a twin system which is acting just about right, maybe such that the siphon analogy doesn't fit..? System #2 Same plumbing, but the low pressure drop part at height (100ft)...

Odd behavior of chilled water circulator w/ high elevation gain

What kinds of effects would the 100ft elevation gain introduce which I didn't consider in the shop setting?

Odd behavior of chilled water circulator w/ high elevation gain

See attached PDF for general piping layout. The idea is that the chiller unit cools the incoming water which is then pumped ~100ft in the air to cool a piece of equipment at higher pressure. My return line is filled with bubbles and unpredictable behavior which I have never observed in lab...
