Putting Grade ring vs Manhole section when raising the manhole. Need correction

I am not sure I understand this " if City forces/ contractors use lots of grade rings instead of MH sections. You may be surprised at what you find."? Do you mean that it is prevalent that contractor using ring instead of section? I think the problem is the lack of steps to get to the...

Putting Grade ring vs Manhole section when raising the manhole. Need correction

The manhole part of the property owner's connection and the property owner is the only one connect to the manhole. The manhole is in the property but per city, technically the manhole is still belong to public works. The manhole is dry for more than 20 years. The property owner is building a...

Putting Grade ring vs Manhole section when raising the manhole. Need correction

There is a manhole in the property driveway that was raised by adding 4 meter rings a long time ago, about 24 inches. WE are raising the driving slop and the subcontractor added 3 concrete rings about 30 inches. Totally the manhole was raised 54 inches. The city public works department...

This is the slope of the hill What is on top of the wall? Landscape, hardscape, roadway? landscape. This...

Shotcrete and Soil nail during rain

The contractor for shotcrete and soil-nail retaining wall want to wait until there is 7-9 days of continuous sunny day in forecast to start. It is impossible to find such a period until summer. They can cover the wall during rain but they are concern about the the water saturating soil...

Can shotrete wall got hand trowel finish?

Thanks! Anyone have literature about hand trowel on shotcrete so that I can show it to the contractor?

Can shotrete wall got hand trowel finish?

I hope to have a smooth finish of the shotcrete wall but my contractor said it is not possible to do some hand trowel to smooth it because hand trowel will compromise the integrity of the wall, causing cracks in the wall. Is it accurate?

Building 20' retaining wall adjacent to the property line

There is no close building on the neighbor lot. the neighbor house is 40 ft away. Soil is silty sand with gravel.

Building 20' retaining wall adjacent to the property line

We are working on options for a 20 feet tall retaining wall. The problem is the wall will be 1-5 ft from the property line. Soil nail is an option but the nails will be drilled into adjacent property and it is a headache that we hope to avoid. What would be other options for this wall? I think...

Can MSE/keystones wall be plasterd/stucco'd or cemented over the surface?

Thank you for all the answers. The code calls for 36'' railing. I think we will just get the blocks/wall face to go beyond the soil one to act as railing.

Can MSE/keystones wall be plasterd/stucco'd or cemented over the surface?

The MSE wall is reinforcing the backfill dirt. We need a 3 ft stand alone wall (acting as a solid railing), either on the top of the MSE block or on the top of the backfill dirt.

Can MSE/keystones wall be plasterd/stucco'd or cemented over the surface?

Can that type of solid wall go on top of a MSE wall?

Can MSE/keystones wall be plasterd/stucco'd or cemented over the surface?

This is for an elevated driveway next to the house. I found MESA from Tensar can provide the wall face that complement the style of the house. However, I still want a white solid railing on top of this MSE wall to complement the Spanish style of the house but I don't know how to integrate it...

Can MSE/keystones wall be plasterd/stucco'd or cemented over the surface?

What they did here is similar to what I have in mind. Simple rectangular precast panels with narrow panel simulating a pilaster. What do you guy think? https://www.reinforcedearth.com/project/mse-walls-become-central-aesthetic-feature-la-villita-apartment-homes.html

Can MSE/keystones wall be plasterd/stucco'd or cemented over the surface?

We hope to have a smooth wall that matched the rest of the house but poured in place concrete is not possible due to limited footing. MSE is one of the solution but we don't like the honeycomb look of the MSE wall. Is it possible to put stucco or painted cement over the face of the wall? Any...

Design walkways on a steep slope

Another problem is how to get equipment up there to build. Any solution doable by hand anc handheld tool is a plus.

Design walkways on a steep slope

Cut Path without wall would be my preference but there is local code that forbids bare wall higher than 4 ft. A 4 ft wide path would result in 3-4 feet wall. Narrower path is just too dangerous for us.

Design walkways on a steep slope

Thank for the input! I think the soldier pile timmber wall to create walkways would be the most economical way to achieve what we want. So I guess we anchor the soldier pile directly onto the bedrock, put in the timber wall, then back fill the area with gravel. We would walk on top of the gravel...

Design walkways on a steep slope

Thanks! That would be too big vertical wall and not the aesthetics we are shooting for. We want to minimize the land and excavation for the walkways and use most of the land for planting.

Design walkways on a steep slope

There is shallow sandstone bedrock (14-20 inches deep)that the post will be fixed. Can you give me more detail about the crib wall for walkway? So we excavate the area to the bed rock, put in the crib wall and the walkway is the top of the crib wall?
