Thank you for sharing that.
Any chance you would know the details of the spec? As in, whether it was Cl2 as shown on ASTM spec or if any other operation or control was placed exclusively to improve notch toughness?

Hi,
Did anyone here use A537 Cl2 at MDMT colder than -60C for pressure vessels, especially at high thicknesses , say 3"-4.5" etc. The A20 recommended test temperatures suggests it may not be plausible to use it at those temperatures. But, I guess we can order right Q&T, quality checks and impact...
@TugboatEng
Yes, we needed SS and cannot change that.
@Ed
Came across that from talking to few experts in conferences and I also saw DNV-RP-G109 endorsing that opinion. It has something to do with difficulty of coating small diameters and shorter coating life. Debatable... but seems that...
Thank you Steve and Ed. So, I am hearing two reasons.
a) Quality of TSA adhesion is lower due to inherent difficulty of TSA coating on curvatures of small diameters AND the use of flame spray instead of arc spray (read this difference in a TSA process in a handbook. Although they didn't speak...
Hi all,
This is a question about TSA.
I noticed on DEP 39.01.10.12 and couple of other client specs, that TSA on piping diameter < 2" is not recommended. I do not have any negative experience for these diameters. I think its possible there may have been difficulty even with flame spray or may...
[smile] Lesson learnt is to go with plastic tank. Comes with its own other issues but tolerable.
We tested the coating and found it to have inadequate dft. There are other indications which points to application. And apparently QA didn't catch that.
I would have used anodes, but the process...
Steve,
The process is sensitive to corrosion products. So I have to prevent any release of metal. The paint job should have sufficed but turns out, it was applied improperly.
Thank you. This opens up couple of options. I contacted the company to inquire few other things.
After reading your response, I started searching for submerged coating repairs and got few other useful hits. Appreciate the feedback.
Hi everyone,
I have an ongoing tank internal corrosion issue, for which am trying to find a quick repair solution. This tank houses brine (upto15%) and its atmospheric. No acids...pH is neutral. Within couple of weeks, the CS tank with Epoxy novolac internal coating has failed. Seeing pin hole...
