OK, I have been looking to NFPA 13 for the maximum height to mount an test and control valve. NFPA 13 give this example A.8.16.2.5.2.1 An example of an accessible location would be a valve located approximately 7 ft (2.1 m) above the floor level to which a hose could be connected to discharge...

Below is a recently completed job, actually not 100% complete with I posted the general information sign. This will earn you a gold star. I'm having problem getting the contractor to proper post the hydraulic information and control valve signs as per NFPA para 8.16.1.1.8.

    Exhausts fan in warehouse.

CDAFD, I was going to tell the GC to ask the FPE for his/her opinion. I bet the will say is mechanical stuff (we get a lot of that in here). I just want to educate myself a little more in this subject. I know they need to be capable of manual exhaust operations, but other than that nothing...

    Mixing pipe.....

SDpaddler50. At this point I'm not really concern, the building was accepted like that by someone else. I have never seen that done anywhere else, that ‘s what pick my curiosity. I was thinking in the same line of what peddarin said. Is this a common practice?

    Mixing pipe.....

Is not an outside area, is an inside vehicle maintenance area with a wet system. It is a military base. I know the newest UFC do not allow galvanize pipe at all. but this building was contracted few years ago.
