david339933, thankyou for clarifying. So it means table UCS-56 thickness requirement is not just for plate, further detail should be taken from UCS 56-3, Where it gives detail that 16 mm thickness exemption is only when made from pipe of less than 16 mm, for plate material, all thickness...
I am designing exchanger of 1.25Cr (SA-387 Gr 11). As per UCS 56, for P NO. 4 PWHT is not mandatory is thickness is less than 16 mm, but Pvelite is making PVELITE mandatory PWHT even if thickness is 12 mm. Kindly clarify.
Dear LittleInch,
Thankyou for your feedback. If possible kindly send some data on the actuated valve or pump and how it can allow an overflow nozzle in a floating roof tank.
When you have time , kindly do send some sketch for sliding collar system.

Hi,
As mentioned above tank is for waste water service. Additionally The tanks shall be also provided with an adequate overflow line to route any excess flow to the existing Firewater/Storm Water Basins. Overflow shall be constructed with an internal dip pipe so that the oil layer on the top of...
I agree that floating roof for water service is not seen. I also prefer stiffened dome roof. I am discussing with process to know the exact reason for floating roof
Secondly the exact service is waster water, so maybe due oil in water they are asking for floating roof. what do you guys think...
Hello,
I have a 44 m dia water buffer tank. Client is asking for a external floating roof and also an overflow nozzle. Considering seal system, is overflow nozzle advisable.
As per C.3.1.1 of API 650 overflow opening can be provided, SO what need to be considered when locating overflow nozzle...
Hi Mohsen,
For tanks, excel sheets are more preferred way to go, specially for detail design. if you don't have time to prepare then more common software are Tank, AME tank or autopipe vessel.
Hello,
I am working on an API 650 external floating roof, naphta tank, which will be undergoing change of service from Naphta to Crude oil. In this perspective what things I need to do from an engineer contractor point of view. It is in FEL-2(feed) stage. Below is what I think I need to do:

dear All
Good evening,
I am designing a reactor as per ASME Sec.VIII. As of now I am using div 2. by PVElite.
The Design conditions are the following :
Design case : 8.1 mpag @ 427 Deg C
Regeneration case: 2.1 mpag @ 537.8 Deg C
external pressure: F.V @ 427 Deg C
Material : SA 387 11 cl.2...
Hi,
I have a BEU type exchanger on old asme sec div.1 edition. job is to upgrade exchanger by replace channel bonnet to new 1.25Cr material. This is done because service is hydrogen temperature is high, so chance of HTHA is there. Shell side, tubesheet and tube will remain same. Client is...

So It mean 150 mm distance is especially important for nozzle located in lower part of shell. In my case i have 8 inch pump suction nozzle, which need to be lower than Low low liquid level.
Due to this i selected low type pad,so to avoid toe to toe requirement form pad edge to...
MY friend door and connections are different. Door is like a rat hole all the way to flange. connection has rat hole shape but at the end converge to standard nozzle size, with flange
HTURKAK,
SECTION 5.27 Pertains only to flush type connections, doors are not addressed here. At the same time see API 650,there it clearly distinguishes "Fitting" from "connection". and has separate section for fittings (door) and nozzles
In API 650 there is a table for sizing of Flush type...
Hi,
I did not find any reference of under bottom connection API 620. can we include those under bottom connection details as shown in annex O of API 650 ??
In API 620, as per clause 5.14.5, minimum weld toe toe distance is 150 mm for all nozzle. In aramco spec 32-samss-006 it give an additional clause to api 620 which says 50 mm distance, should i follow the stringent which is 150 mm?
quote
5.14.5 Each opening in the walls of a tank shall be...
Hello,
In API 620 there is no reference of flush type Clean out door like in API 650, only reference is flush type clean out nozzles, with a limitation on internal design pressure: it says "5.27.1.2 The design pressure for the gas vapor space of the tank shall not exceed 2 lbf/in.2 gauge."...
so it means API 620 can be done in shop, and still meet all requirements of API 620. like thickness formula, hydro testing, material allowable etc.
But i believe first we need to take confirmation from client, because it will be deviation of API 620 and also his specs.
Second case:
Keep the...
Hi,
I have api 620 water tank with 15 psig design pressure and 9.4 m dia. Client is looking for a way to limit site activities. One solution is to reduce the diameter to 6 m . In this case i did not find referece of shop fbricated tank in API 620. My question is can we do API 620 tank in shop...
