Thank you for the feed back. Does anyone no why there are such stringent requirements
on bolt spacing and load capacity limitations, even when using epoxy anchors, only loaded in shear, and yet those limitations
would largely be ignored if using a thru-bolt ?
Help
I need to make a connection to a fully grouted CMU wall (8"t). I have a load of 5000# to support and am trying to use
the Hilti Profis software to design the anchors. I am hoping to fasten a L8x4x3/8 x 8" seat to the CMU with(4) 3/4" exp. or adhesive anchors placed on a 5.5" sq. pattern...
I've been asked to size I-joists for an interior wood framed mezzanine. The mezzanine
is about 32' x 75ft, with 2-interior bearing walls, and joists are spanning the 25ft direction.
Design live load is 75psf. The top of the plywood mezzanine deck is 11 ft aff. The client is planning
on...
I have a large pre-eng building foundation to design, and the "provided" column uplift forces are quite high...95 kips. I am planning to drop the top of the footings and add piers
to obtain the needed additional dead load from overburden. That is a lot of expense, and I'm sure the contractor...
I am analyzing roof framing for snow load capacity on a building constructed in the early 1970s.
Roof is constructed with bar joists at 5'oc, spanning to steel beams. The original design drawings
indicate a built-up roof on 1" rigid insulation, over a 3" cementituous deck. Does anyone have
any...
NJ92 - you nailed it - thank you, exactly what I was trying to find. The deck does have a nice appearance.
It actually looked liked the underside of the wood decking it replaced with the narrow joints.
Thanks all for valuable feed back.
This deck was used in a retrofit in old textile mill in Maine to replace the wood decking in a few bays. The supporting wood girders were sistered with C12s, so it was likely for supporting a fairly heavy piece of equipment. I found the attached deck info on the web - from the UK.
So my...
Hi
Does anyone know what type of metal deck that is in the attached photo. The flutes are 6"oc and 2" deep, the slab is 5.5" thick
and spans 8ft. Slab has #4s @ 6" at mid-depth. I found a similar deck on-line manufactured in the UK, and it is a composite deck,
and shows headed studs welded...
Yes - thank you all - holdowns above and below make sense. I will contact RISA to see
what they were thinking - most likely only applies at exterior shear walls where the strap can be placed on the outside of the wall
Hi
I'm designing a 4-story wood framed building using RISA software. For the shear walls, the program offers various tension straps to transfer chord forces where required. I'm curious how a tension strap would get installed on an interior shear wall since the plywood floor deck would conflict...
I have a 2-story wood framed building (Condo)with 30' roof trusses
and floor joists spanning 15'. Can the roof trusses be spaced
at 24"oc and the floor joists and 2x6 wall studs spaced @ 16"
By the numbers, with 42psf roof snow load, I need 3-2x6 top plates (SPF #2), but most contractors...
I have an condo project to design with a roof snow load of 42psf.
Owner wants to frame the 30ft. roof trusses at 24"oc, floor framing and wall studs (2x6)
at 16"oc. By the "numbers" I can get a triple top plate to carry the truss located
between the studs. On single family residential...
I have a steel stair fabricator who would like to use a single 3/4" A-325SC bolt to connect a landing support beam (C4)to a header. The single bolt connection is adequate for the 1500# reaction, but do you have to use the AISC 2-bolt minimum requirement for a stair. Does anyone know of the...
any opinions out there on acceptability of using load
values for double angle clips per AISC when the member being supported
is a HSS 12x4, with 3/4" A-325N bolts..... ? thanks
Does anyone know of any issues of framing a 3-4 story wood framed building with
2x studs and floor framing @ 24"oc, versus 16", if the analysis of the wall
studs checks out for all loads, including lateral
Thanks
