Good Day!
As per Table 4.2 (footnote d) of AWS D1.1-2010, a CJP also qualifies for PJP and fillet (see 4.11.3).
4.11.3 requires 3 macro test if we will also include PJP in the WPS (CJP & PJP) but if we only use CJP & Fillet in the WPS, do we still have to do macro test?
Thanks
Good Day!
As per Aws D1.4 2011 Table 6.3 (In-Direct butt) the minimum test specimen is 2. But it requires 2 full section tensile test and 2 macro test.
Is my interpretation correct that the 2 test can be done on each specimen?which part I can use for the macro test?or do I need a total of 4...
Good Day,
I would like to ask if I can use a different WPS for weld repair as per ASME Sec IX QW-202.3 or QW-200.4?
Example:
WPS 1 (Original Weld)Process: GTAW+FCAW (BM Range= 5~38)
WPS 2 (Repair) Process: SMAW w/ back gouging (BM Range= 38 max)
No PWHT & Impact Test requirement
Thanks,
Good Day to everyone

Thank you for your reply, our subcontractor wasn't able to qualify their welders for the overhead position so I have a doubt. Now I would recommend them for the 6G position.
Good Day to all!,

Thank you for your clarification, I misinterpreted the expression "maximum to be welded" as being qualified to unlimited thickness. I will re-check the WPQR since some of the welders have the thickness range of "unlimited" because their weld deposit is 13mm or more

The data are as follows:
Welder Qualification has been done as per ASME Sec IX by two test
1) A106 Pipe 2" Sch 160 with SMAW weld deposit of 5.5mm (thus qualifying him for 1" OD min and 11mm thickness range)
2) A106 Pipe 6" Sch 160 with SMAW weld deposit of 15mm (thus qualifying him for...
Good Day!
Is it correct to say that the welder is qualified 1"OD min and unlimited thickness if
A welder tested with SMAW using 2" test pipe with 2t and 6" test pipe with unlimited thickness?
Good Day!
I would to ask regarding the welder qualification test
A welder is qualified with SMAW on a 2" pipe coupon with weld thickness 2T and 6" pipe coupon with unlimited thickness
Can I assume that the welder is qualified 1" OD min with "unlimited" weld metal thickness range?
