There are all names for a vertical drain that will allow water to weep / wick water through a filter fabric which surrounds a polypropylene core to the surface from a depth below. I need to evaluate the spacing to install these drains and any recommendations or limitations of their use.
Does anyone have a good reference for the design and installation of weep wells being considered for the reduction of groundwater / pore pressure at depth?
I am having difficulties with my dam break model:
The model seems to work fine for a say 100 year event with an unsteady flow of about 100 cfs peak flow.
I have problems when I try the dam break flow hydrograph which as a peak flow of 11,000 cfs which rises and falls over a 1 hour time...
Let me ask a more general question.
If I have a hunk of concrete which does not have significant stresses and I decide to reinforce it with temp & shrinkage steel only, would it be sufficient to determine the steel req'd and place steel in the outside foot width of concrete only and disregard...
Full Story - We need to build a 3 to 4 ft deep by 15 ft square concrete base slab to support a circular water tank.
For the mass concrete base slab, the minimum reinforcement equations tell us we need X sq-in of steel per foot. Is the steel req'd all through the concrete slab or is it just...
