    Ron, Using wind loads at windward nodes per ASCE-10 and going thru std load combinations with the notional loads along with gravity loads. Question- just starting to understand the Direct Method Analysis- do you have to use 1.6 x all loads for stability?

    Divider plate welded column splice

    To transition from a 13l4" square x 1/2" HSS to a 12"square x 1/2" HSS, thinking of using a 3/4" divider plate, butt welded to 14" column and then 7/16" fillet weld upper col to divider plate- what do you guys think?
