    Ribbed neoprene for clamp

Hi, Sorry for delay response. To answer some questions: a) "...something on a supply boat hits it..." There is guard being provided to absorb impact from workboat/ supply boat. b) "...What if that one corrodes..." I believe they have periodic inspection to cater for that. It is above water...

    Ribbed neoprene for clamp

Hi BigInch, Pipe(Riser) OD: 660 mm Pipe(Riser) coating thickness: 3 mm LPE So, TOTAL thickness of Pipe with LPE coating = 666 mm Clamp ID: 726 mm Neoprene thickness (top of rib)= 25 mm Thus, effective clamp ID (considering 25 mm of top of ribbed neoprene)= 676 mm So, there is 5 mm clearance...

    Ribbed neoprene for clamp

Thanks BigInch for your thought. In my case, it is a sliding clamp. A sliding clamp for offshore riser. But its neoprene is ribbed. I just don't understand why ribbed is provided. The outer diamter of riser (including LPE coating) has clearance about 5 mm with the inner diameter of the clamp...

    Ribbed neoprene for clamp

Hi, Does anyone here knows the function/ purpose of ribbed neoprene for offshore riser clamp? I've been searching for the difference between ribbed neoprene and flat neoprene with respect to its function. Just want to understand why some design specify flat neoprene and why some other design...

Slenderness Ratio of Conductor Supported Platform

Hi SDMAX, Thanks for your reply. Wow.. I definitely will contact you if my project in the future take conductor supported platform as an option. Thanks again.

Slenderness Ratio of Conductor Supported Platform

Hi, I just wonder, have any of you involve in design of conductor supported platform? Can any of you share your acceptance value of conductor/ leg slenderness ratio for the structure? Is it still below 200 or exceed 200? I just saw picture of COSMOS in the internet and from what i can see...

    Outboard caisson at MOPU

thanks SDMAX for your response.. The MOPU is based on south east asia, not really rough condition like north sea. Thanks for your suggestion..

    Outboard caisson at MOPU

Hi Buggar, These are the information: water depth at site= 63 m required depth of submerged caisson in sea water below MSL= -15 m (input from mechanical) approximate length of caisson= approx. 30 m MOPU remaining duration for service= 6 years (expected to be decommissioned in 2021) In my...

    Outboard caisson at MOPU

MOPU is basically short form for Mobile Operated Production Unit. Its structure similar to drilling jack up though.

    Outboard caisson at MOPU

Hi all, I just wanna ask, 1) have any member in this forum has experienced in designing and construct caisson outboard of existing and in-service MOPU? 2) Is there any MOPU (or similar structure eg jack up) that has outboard caisson? Currently I'm trying to brainstorm myself on how to design...

    SACS Precede- Seastate Load Generation

Thanks london. However, what do you mean by "you might need to select both". Does it mean i have to re-run different sets of analysis by choosing different input and compare its results? Eg: 1st run, i use max base shear. Then, 2nd run, i use max overturning moment. Then, compare both results...

    SACS Precede- Seastate Load Generation

Hi, I'm new to SACS and currently learning SACS by myself. I have query regarding "critical position" input for WAVE II card under seastate load generation. What is(are) criteria(s) to be considered before putting our input? The choices are "maximum overturning moment", "minimum overturning...

Riser Guard welded to Conductor/ pile

The attached is jacket vertical framing. The location of riser guard to be welded onto conductor is as per mark up in the drawing.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=3d3a6882-0a6a-45d6-b69b-e85628065432&file=Jacket_Vertical_Framing.JPG

Riser Guard welded to Conductor/ pile

Hi, As per subject, can we weld riser guard to conductor/pile? If it can be welded to conductor/ pile, is there any example/ platform which adopt this? *Platform is fixed structure type and it is supported by conductor which also act as piles.
