I'm not sold on the Ensis personally. The feed rates are too slow compared to the FLCAJ (which is what we have). If you're buying a fiber laser to cut thicker with oxygen then you're looking at the wrong kind of machine.
Just my 2 cents.
We landed a huge aluminum job in our shop, the first real aluminum production we're going to run. This led to our discussion on how to prevent a thermite reaction when switching back to our typical HR P&O runners. The obvious answer is to clean the scrap trays and empty the dust collector. What...
Yes, we roll the carts over to the dumpster and shovel it out. The trays under the conveyor don't fill up as fast. Usually we pull them out partially and combine them into one tray and wheel it over the dumpster.
Are you talking about etching? I typically etch using shop air as the assist gas. 500w, 350 inches per minute and about 20-25% duty. Works like a charm. You can use O2 if you don't have good dry air.
Networking is the best option for the laser. You can download all the programs right to the controller from your programming station.
Bulk tank oxygen and nitrogen is the same.
I've never gotten a Beam Overlap alarm on any of the newer Amada's I've ran since 2007.
I'm running a 4kw fiber laser and we just got an order for 11 ga aluminum. Our customer is making tanks and these parts are all exposed. Our initial test run of the material left dross that the owner wasn't happy with. Can anybody help me with some tricks for cutting a burr free aluminum?
Thanks.
The Gen II Fiber laser engine from JDSU that Amada uses has 2 Fiber Laser Modules and a Combiner Module. This unit was what was in the crate. It requires a sterile environment to work on. Thus is why Amada issued the new unit. They are going to send the OG unit back to JDSU for testing. Here a...
Amada sent a new motor over on Friday. The plan is to replace the OG one. This is their Gen II fiber laser. Only a handful in the field and the first one to fail. Duane Lepianka is set to do the replacement tomorrow. There are only 1,500 beam on hours. I'll pick his brain tomorrow and see what I...
I'm waiting to hear back from Amada California. But here are my alarms. Right now nobody knows what the root cause of this is. When the machine is idle I can clear the alarms, As soon the beam is turned on these alarms shoot up. No beam = No production. Does anybody know anything that could...
Last year my company bought a new Fiber laser from Amada. I have spent my entire life running CO2 lasers. We are approaching 1500 beam on hours and I wanted some feedback on the lense life compared to the CO2. Both the 190mm and the 220mm have been replaced once. The 220 probably could have gone...
I would set your retract height to 1.5"-2". I know everybody likes seeing the laser head glide across the steel while cutting but it isn't sustainable for blue collar production runs. If you do have a Head Control like the Amada controls I would use Medium on the IDs and Standard on the OD.
We dump out dust bucket twice a week. It goes into a trash bag and the janitor picks it up and tosses it in the dumpster out back. It's apart of our daily maintenance log and needs to be signed off twice a week. You will spend a lot less time doing it more frequent than you will cleaning up a...
