Heat treatment of welded WPB fittings

Dear all, A very good day to you. I have a confusion regarding heat treatment of welded WPB wrought fittings manufactured to BPV section II Part A: 2017. When welded wrought fittings of Grade WPB of nominal thickness > 19mm, are manufactured by welding of cold rolled two half plates/shells; is...

Volumetric Examination requirement for ASME Section I

Thanks metengr for the reply. However, PG 11.3 applies to pressure parts such as pipe fittings, valves, flanges, nozzles, welding caps, manhole frames and covers, and pump casings that are a part of the boiler circulating system, that comply with an ASME product standard. Does PG-11.3 cover...

Volumetric Examination requirement for ASME Section I

Table PW-11 as per ASME Sec I: 2017, states that all longitudinal welds are to be volumetrically examined throughout their entire length. Now. Considering the case of ASME SA 312 welded pipes (welded without addition of filler metal), ASME sec II part A: 2017 does not mandate volumetric...

    Mill Cert vs PMI

EN 10204 3.1 mill certificate is generally required for all components. It states that the QC department of manufacturer should certify the material, which is basically present is most ISO 9001 certified organizations. PMI cannot replace a 3.1 certification, since PMI is only considered as a...

    ASTM A 860 WPHY 52

Why is ASTM A 860 specified as low alloy steel butt weld fittings, even when the chemical composition is similar to A 234 Gr WPB carbon steel fittings and categorised as P number 1 by ASME sec IX QW 422?

    ASME section II part A

Hi all, I have a query regarding thickness tolerance on SA-312 and SA-358 welded pipes. For SA-312 welded pipes, the under tolerance on thickness is 12.5% of nominal wall thickness and for SA-358 welded pipes the under tolerance thickness is 0.3mm. Now, as I understand the raw material is the...

    ASME SEC II PART B

metengr, Yes, this is about the starting material. My doubt is, is it prohibited by ASME sec II part A mandatory Appendix II, provided the client specification is silent about edition of raw material to be used.

    ASME SEC II PART B

Can a raw material certified to an ASTM edition not included in ASME sec II B mandatory appendix II be used to certify finished product to ASME specification. For e.g Can ASTM SB 425 2010 edition be used to prepare ASME SB 564 2015 edition?
