One simple cheap solution is just nut and bolt, if the release doesn't need to be instant. Attach the cords just slack enough to get a few easy turns for a hold, then turn the rest of the way to tighten the cords.
For example these with suitable holes ready:
Eye Nut Hanger
Machine Bolt Hanger...

Can you explain this to me again? Not trying to be extra obtuse but there's something here for me
Alright, the paper hemi linked addresses my questions. Shouldn't have just skimmed it before.
I still can't help thinking of a sleeve valve system in the context of a modern charged direct-injected diesel. In a naive version, no need for intake port swirl if the piston shaping handles it. More...
Thank you folks for great replies. As I see it now, a sleeve valve engine wouldn't have the efficiency (or intentional inefficiency for emissions control) of a poppet valve four-stroker, the simplicity of a two-strokers for small engines, nor the reliability for aircraft engines. Engineers have...
Thank you for the helpful replies, and sorry for the delay. And I profoundly apologize for the dim, crayon class image below. Problems with software updates and scanners. I hope it conveys the idea. There's a driving gear, there's the diagonally shaded area of other inevitable spatial...
If you want to make your software (coding) portable, you have to look at established standards and good practices first. Then you start with your datasets, massaging them to conform. Then you consider making your sacred code inner loops kind of problem & solution libraries, or you leverage...
These engines keep bothering me. :-)
Was the lube oil consumption outrageous in modern terms? Would any modern fluids or materials or designs help there, if you were to implement something like that today?
How was the port sealing (for gasses, as well as and oil) done? I don't have access to...
This is connected to at best an educational project, not a commercially viable one. This is completely outside my field. Any answers, explanations, and (online) references would be greatly appreciated.
The mechanism has a gearwheel A that needs to drive gearwheel D (and E). A's axis is...
