Filler electrode for repair welding of Tool steel S5 or 06

Its hardened tool steel. chemical composition close to S5 and O6. Hardness is near 50 HRC. Mostly SMAW is used in our industry for welding. The part is rotor and its very small. thickness of build up is 7 to 9 mm on dia of 10 mm.

Filler electrode for repair welding of Tool steel S5 or 06

I am going to buildup on tool steel s5/06 for repair purposes, i have limited option of using electrodes which includes E8018-B2L and E12018M. I have also E309 and inconel. From my point of view in order to have good tensile strength i should use E12018M or E8018-B2L (2nd preference). Please...

    PWHT Requirement for Fillet weld

i just saw on ASME Sec VIII Div . 1. If fillet is less than 13 mm, PWHT is not required. See table UCS-56-1 FOR P.No.1. What I am not sure it is than mandatory if fillet is greater than 13 mm throat. What information u need more to begin?

welded flush type girts end support type?

Ron: its just a sketch showing the connection of purlins, how they are connected to columns. Yes you are right columns are rotated to 90 from conventional situation. The columns are fixed with base plate to the anchors.

welded flush type girts end support type?

Ron: The designing of purlins is also important in terms of end connections because it has an effect on effective length. Which is required for the calculation of slenderness ratio. If purlins are acting like struts than we have to consider slenderness ratio. The value of Lambda is based on end...

welded flush type girts end support type?

CANPRO: I am evaluation an existing structure. I have attached a simple sketch just to show how purlins are attached to the side columns. The purlins are welded to the side columns. SO in this case what should be the end conditions of purlins fixed-fixed or pinned-pinned. Note: Please ignore...

Purlin design: Failing under slenderness ratio

AISC provide calculations of beams and columns and much details. I frequently use it in my work. But i didnt find any purlin details thats why i was asking. i think its not in AISC manual.

welded flush type girts end support type?

The end supports are not design assumptions. They are taken according to the connection type. Connection type determines whether it should be pinned or fixed.

welded flush type girts end support type?

hokie: yes they can be welded if hot rolled channels are used as purlins

Purlin design: Failing under slenderness ratio

does AISC provide calculations for purlins and girts? I tell if you know. i dint find any.

welded flush type girts end support type?

What are the end support types of flush type girts or purlins if they are welded to the columns. In my view it should be fixed type. Moment also act at the end in all three direction. Correct me if i am wrong?

Purlin design: Failing under slenderness ratio

hookie66 and Harste : We use C-channels as purlins. Therefore, designing is required by us for the selection and purchase of members.
