Thanks for your response FormerAIS. I have submitted a request to the ASME for an official interpretation. I'm waiting for the committee's reponse, which may take upto 6 months I'm told.
Dear All
To evaluate whether or not the total time at temperature applied during the actual pwht exceed the simulated pwht time by more than 25%, as required by ASME III NB2211. We start holding time when the coldest thermocouple reaches holding temperature and stops when the coldest...
thanks vpl for your response, in that case the 200 is not necessary in the denominator term (200*[(D+1250)/200]), 200 should cancel. the equation will end up reading (D+50)/(D+1250). this doesn't make sense either because the ratio (D+50)/(D+1250) is demensionless compared to D/100.
The equation in NB-4221.1 regarding max difference in cross sectional diameters for vessels says that use the minimum of (D+50)/200[(D+1 250)/200] or D/100. Now this equation is confusing in the sense that (a)it looks like there's set of parenthesis missing, It looks like it should read...
Does ASME III require the design specification to be certified first before material manufacture can start. or is required before fabrication of the vessel by the N-certificate holder ?
What measueres can I take to prevent, detect and remedy hot cracking in a dissimillar metal weld of 304 austenetic stainless steel to SA508 ferritic steel.
