We have a API 12F tank that has a crack on one of the top corners of the the clean out that runs through the weld and continues at a 45 degree angle approx 2 inches in the shell. CFR 195.205 (b) instructs to follow the standard by which it was built. I just don't see anything in 12F that...
Had some scaffold boards that got hot enough during PWHT to smolder and possibly have an open flame. Boards were put out buy water hose. If I were to do hardness test on this pipe is there a specific way or layout of the test on the pipe?
Looking for a way to check the distortion of a RFWN flange. Would like to know different ways to perform this task but the situation at hand only allows 3 inches between flanges. Is there a tool specifically made for this job?
Thanks for the replies, simple put --- on the test record(sheet) if the test pressure is 450 psi would entering just 450 be okay? B31.3 - 345.2.7(c)it requires test pressure,
Does B31.3 specify that leak testing records differentiate a unit of measure, psi or mpa and if so where is that located. Can't seem to put my finger on it.
We use gap-o-let to ensure 1/16 gap, and we are using RT now for info only, which shows adequate gap. Harmonics ratio calculations have been completed and that is where the information was generated. It was a "miss" on the engineering side, we are looking at replacing the socket welds with butt...
Previously had socket weld(fillet)crack, analysis revealed the failure was fatigue due to harmonics. Changes are being made to correct the problem at other welds. Would like to know other than dye/pen what is another ndt method to inspect fillet socket welds to check for cracks??
