Where can I obtain a good process plant cost data for estimating?

You could also use QUE$TOR, however that would give you a very rough estimation. Cost estimation requires experience and a very good understanding of what you base the estimation on. Cheers, Vlad

Where can I obtain a good process plant cost data for estimating?

For which part of the world? What kind of process plant are we speaking about? What type of equiment, for what pressure rating, level of automation, etc. ? What are the products to be obtained from this process plant? Define the level of accuracy you require. There are so many questions you...

Do you educate yourself or pay experts, if your project has a problem related to other field?

I guess it is a cost/time vs. importance/urgency issue. Whenever faced with something similar, I tried to educate myself either by talking with my mentor, or other experienced engineers. This forum is also a source of high quality information coming from experienced engineers.

    Operating Hours for Plant Capacity

sshep, If you are saying that the total annual capacity is the same as the one specified by you (as you say... "needed") than we could assume (as we do not know exactly) some of the reasons: 1. fit for purpose solution (lean and clean design) 2. not using redundancy if possible, thus...

    LPG water removal (again)

How to make sure I get training, improve my skills on the job, etc?

What you could also do is to glue yourself to a senior engineer and try to learn from him as much as possible. You could also research some interesting topics which you are interested in and discuss them with your mentor.

where should the spectacle blind be placed ? before valve or after valve?

I agree with itdepends. In the PIDs i have seen/reviewed the spectacle blind is placed on the nozzle of the vessel. if there is a spectacle blind for positive isolation somewhere in the PIDs, then depends on the equipment/section/process that you intend to isolate. regards, Vlad
