Trane Centravac RLA, temp and %load fluctuations.

Here are the graphs I made with my Fluke 1736 Data logger, I highlighted some of it, thinking it might help.

Trane Centravac RLA, temp and %load fluctuations.

One thing I forgot to mention ( and this is a kicker) when I shut off either one of the other chillers, so that just two are running, the load changes stop, temperature set point is met with minimal fluctuations and everything is "normal".

Trane Centravac RLA, temp and %load fluctuations.

Hi Ya'll. Im running a Chiller Plant with three Trane CentraVac water cooled Chillers. #1 is a 950 ton, #2 750 ton and #3 750 ton with an AFD. Each Chiller has its own primary pump and condenser pump without VFDs. The chillers share a common condenser water line. The setup does not allow a...

Diesel Oil Change every 24-36 hours??

Hi Y'all Thanks for all your answers.! [thanks] I will check out that link for 2 strike lube oil system. Thanks again.

Diesel Oil Change every 24-36 hours??

BrianPetersen, Yes, you are probably right, engines and engine technology, in the late 60's was nothing like it is now.[tiphat] I hope you didn't read my OP as a question as to who the manufacture was. I thought I was being careful to not put a question mark after that particular statement...

Diesel Oil Change every 24-36 hours??

Hi Guys! I just came across an old writing from 1968, that said the engineer was required to change the Engine Oil every 24-36 hours of run time with either new oil or freshly processed lube oil. There was no description of the engine manufacturer, model or year in this writing, just that...

Frequency of test runs on Emergency Generator

Tugboat: I currently have electric starter, 2 x 8D batteries with a IOTA DLS series battery charger. Back when the same engine was used for peak shaving, as you mention too, I would replace the batteries every 14-15 months. And that is with the 2 starts every day between November-March, and...

Frequency of test runs on Emergency Generator

Hi Mike, Yes, I usually run the engine till it reaches operating temps and then for an additional 10 minutes or so. I already have a prelube pump that runs for 2 minutes prior to start, jacket water heater as well. No catalytic converter though. Thanks Dan

Frequency of test runs on Emergency Generator

Hi Guys, I've got a Waukesha VGF F18 GLD that is in a standby application at a Chiller plant. I wanted to see what your ideas would be in regards to test running the engine? I like to do a weekly load test (%80 load (max sight load)) for about 30 minutes. I've heard the stories; its not the...

Standby Generator Unable to Start a Motor

Waross, Yes, the second time around, I did exactly as you described with no issues. Thanks. :)

Standby Generator Unable to Start a Motor

Waross, My standby generator run numerous pumps and auxiliary equipment, I am inclined to think that it was running pretty much everything else at full churn when the last pump then kicked on thus causing the dip. Nevertheless, this is good data, I need look into the site load vs generator...

Standby Generator Unable to Start a Motor

Waross, See, there was something I didn't know. Cool! It hasn't happened since that time, but I remember being worried that it might damage something somehow. I have to admit I am not super adept in electrical theory.

Standby Generator Unable to Start a Motor

I have a 100HP motor with a VFD and soft start. I can bypass the soft start and VFD mode too. So one day, I had to run the motor on generator power and the VFD soft start was shot. When I connected the load to the generator, the prime mover slowed down significantly and was not able to catch...

    Catapiller 125kw, Oil step speed?

Tugboat, Catserveng, Thanks guys, for your answers. So if I understand this right, the oil step is a "switch" of sorts that at a certain rpm either closes or opens a circuit that has to do with the lube system, to either show an alarm or to increase/decrease the pressure. ? The engine is an...

    Catapiller 125kw, Oil step speed?

Hi Guys, Does anyone know what "Oil step speed" is? As I understand it; the MPU counts the flywheel teeth which in turn gives you your RPM of the engine. Some how this is then gives a reading of the Oil Step speed, but I have no idea what this is. I don't imagine the oil pump has a stepper as...

Best Point to take oil sampling

You could also take your sample when you change your oil. But, make sure you let oil flow for a minute or so before you take your sample to avoid getting sediments from the bottom of your pan. That's what I do and IMHO its the right thing to do. Does anyone have any cons to this method?
