jenofstructures,
Please find attached the files named "slope3.e2k" and "slope3.$ET"
Go to [File > Import > ETABS .e2k Text File...] and the program should read the input from one of these two files.
I do not have permanent access to a computer having ETABS installed, therefore I used whatever...
jenofstructures,
I uploaded the file named "slope3.edb":
http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=9609df0f-f169-4826-836f-5bc57e036601&file=slope3.EDB
I hope it is visible and that you are able to download it.
In the file I modified the following:
- I manually meshed the ramp elements...
slickdeals,
Would it be needed to do the static analysis first and, after that, to scale the spectrum cases to reach 85% of the static base shear force? If, from analysis, you get >90% horizontal vibrating mass accelerated, then you will get the base shear force = >90%*mass*acceleration. This is...
jenofstructures,
Try using shells and manualy meshing the ramps to have nodes compatible with beams elements in more locations than start/end of the beams.
This should work for you.
stan123lee,
I don't know how to define the upper limit of spring capacity either. For that, it would be needed a limit for displacement, upto which the law of variation applies and I don't know where can that be input (or if).
But, I thought of another way. It is not sophisticated, instead it...
You stated that you need a bilinear behavior of the soil. I believe that this can be achieved using two very close springs instead of one. On the first domain, the sum of springs should give the first linear behavior and on the second domain (after the first spring fails) only the second would...
I'm sorry, I misunderstood you question.
In "Define" > "Time hystory cases" add a history case for Dead load only (or other initial static gravitational loads you need). Then define a second history case for the lateral action, but at "Start from previous history" drop-down menu select your...
In my experience and understanding, to be able to get results from a vertical dynamic analysis, you need to allow for vertical translation degree of freedom to be taken into account. To do that, in the "Define" > "Mass source" dialogue, you must uncheck the "Include lateral mass only" option...
Hi all!
Does anybody know how can one edit the *.msh file of an Etabs model into a readible manner? I noticed that it is created only after running the analysis. I also noticed that if I put a *.msh file (generated by another program) in the folder where the model *.edb file is located, the...
