if you have any restraints which are not effective during operating case (uplift) take the friction coefficient off the support or it will cause the convergence
I wasn't sure if welded attachments were also required to meet the requirements. I will request the same material specification as the shell for the welded attachments like clips re-pads etc but without the NACE requirement.

I have a pressure vessel which is in sour service and needs to comply with NACE and the plate needs to be HIC tested.
Is it acceptable for the external welded attachments not in contact with the process fluid i.e support saddles etc to be non NACE compliant.

I don't think it will qualify as a special flange because it is basically a 3" nozzle welded directly on to a 24" blind flange. The opening is relatively small compared to the blind diameter.
How would I assess the loads applied to this branch at the nozzle / blind junction?

WRC107 / 297 cover cylindrical and spherical shells but what about flat covers etc and fin fan headers.
