Theory of Matrix Structural Analysis by J. S. Przemieniecki - solutions to problems

Thanks all for your help. I will certainly have a look at some of the texts and sources recommended. I have used Roarke and there is nothing that really matches the scenario that I have, although it is helpful!

Theory of Matrix Structural Analysis by J. S. Przemieniecki - solutions to problems

I have recently come across some issues with plate structures and remember from University studying matrix analysis which would help. The problem I had was University is an awful long time ago, luckily I still have my old book (Theory of Matrix Structural Analysis) but stupidly not my notes - so...

    Stress Paths in APDL

If you want a small number of points I have found using the *Get command and select the node wish you want to start at, and adding a certain amount on every *Get command you use is the easiest for a novice.

Using Python to define ANSYS Workbench Parameters

Hi Jason, Thanks for your reply. Te code looks relatively simple and straight forward, however I am having difficulties with the ExtAPI - is there a specific module I should install in python? I am pretty new to python so everything is a little.... slow Andy

Using Python to define ANSYS Workbench Parameters

Hello everybody, I am creating a python script to run ANSYS Mechanical files for numerous load cases. So far I have managed to set the python script up to create a input journal within ANSYS which creates and changes certain loads and geometries associated with that load case. At present all...

Anyone with experience of FEA of screw threads

I agree with inline6. I've conducted an axisymettric study several times and it works well. You tend to get high stresses in the root of the thread however, so comparisons with yield have to be relative to the penetration of the high stress, i.e. are they local or gross section

Bearing Stress on a Shackle to Shackle connection

Thanks all. Unfortunately in my industry I also get the 'its been fine for 20 years why change it' mentality, even though the problem has never been proven. I guess its more wide spread than I thought

Bearing Stress on a Shackle to Shackle connection

Essentially what I have is a master link going around a pin, so as a cross section, it is a pin over pin. I have seen this before with testing etc where they have shackles and the like in series, just I've never managed to calculate the bearing stress on the shackle and prove it is fine.

Bearing Stress on a Shackle to Shackle connection

Hi all, I am after a little help. I have been asked from a client to assess the bearing stress on a shackle which has another shackle directly attached perpendicular to this, i.e. one cylinder crossing another, with a load less than the SWL of the shackle. Normally I would approach this...
