    ACI section addressing spalled concrete?

Recently, I had an inspection come back stating that a titen HD anchor bolt spalled concrete on a stem wall. This anchor was 1 of 4 anchors in the base plate for a simple HSS post supporting a long span WF beam. Lateral is being resisted elsewhere in the wall, so this is purely a gravity...

TJI w/ web stiffeners flexural strength

That was one option I was thinking, but I don't know where I can find the allowable bending stress of plywood.

TJI w/ web stiffeners flexural strength

A contractor approached me about a fix for a house I designed. Specifically, the stairs don't meet minimum head heights. What he wants to do is stiffen the web on both sides with 1" plywood, provide a small stud pack on either end of the span and then cut out 5 inches of the joists depth...

Impact load from falling snow and ice

I am in need of information to determine design criteria for some canopies that I am designing. Existing structure is a 50' tall metal building used to melt down and recycle aluminum. Last year, sliding snow and ice fell the 50' and totaled a workers truck. The sliding occurred at the location...

    Revert Frame Generation

I was given an inventor model with a large and complex frame structure that was made with the frame generator built into Inventor. My question is, how do I revert that back to wireframe, single lines and nodes, so I can end up getting a workable DXF to import into RISA 3D? Thanks

    Max depth for PT timber

I actually found some answers. For today's references into using wood for foundations, you have to follow the AWC PWF (Permanent Woof Foundation) code. Back in 1985 you had to conform to UBC Standard 29-3 which is the AWC PWF actually replaced. Thanks for the help!

    Max depth for PT timber

Eastern Washington, USA, with a frost depth of 24". In the 1985 UBC, I found a piece on wood retaining walls that says "Wood used in retaining or crib walls shall be treated wood." But I am wondering if there is something more specific. Thanks

    Max depth for PT timber

I am looking at a case where the entire walls of a house basement are made of PT timber and I am wondering what the current code (IBC) says about the maximum depth that PT timber can be used to. Also, if anyone has any knowledge on what building code was enforced in 1986, that would be great. I...
