@WARose : The Bracket supported on the holes that doesn't have force on it (As you said) and loads are not equal (only in one leg and the other is very small or negligible). Any general formula for finding the stress or min thickness of the member ??
Temperature change (range ) specified in project spec as 56 degree Celsius. They dint provide any other temperature data like( Ambient temperature , Max and Min temperature)
Is this data sufficient for the temperature load calculation in staad pro ??
Any American code reference for temperature...
@ Hokie66 : Ix is torsional constant of the section . Z Axis is horizontal and Y axis is vertical.
IX = Torsional constant
IY = Moment of inertia about y-axis.(vertical )
IZ = Moment of inertia about z-axis (Horizontal )
@ IFRS : The section properties are almost same in both cases. you can find in the attached filehttp://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=08219bb2-73e9-404d-997d-37437b4a9aae&file=Fig.docx
Two beams with different sectional properties ( see the attached file. Fig 1 & fig 2 ) supported as simply supported at same span and same loading. While analyzing the section shown in fig 1 deflect more than Fig 2 . please help me to find a reason for that.
What are the sectional properties...
Please help me to find a SELF DRILLING screw to fix aluminium(3mm THK) to aluminium (3mm THK). The screw fixed inside a 12mm groove so we cant insert hexagonal socket .The Max Head size is 9-10mm Only and Pan head or Philips head preferred .
Please suggest some world class screw manufacturers.
@ WARose : Thanks for your advise. i want to check the partition wall system safe against the soft body impact test. In soft body impact test, hitting a softy body of mass 50kg with an energy of 300 joule. If i put the load quasi static load what impact factor i need to take ?? if i proceed with...
How to give impact load in staad. i need to check the system will pass the soft body ( 300 joule) and hard body impact test as per the EOTA and ETAG 003. Whats the general procedure to convert the energy (joule or Nm ) to load ( to model in staad ) . Please help me to find a solution .
Im designing a hanging ceiling for external use. I have to follow ASCE as per the project specification. But when i check the code (ASCE )no separate wind load calculation recommendation for Ceiling. If we consider it as components and cladding (C/C) All the hanging rods (M10) fails because of...
@ RPMG @ dik @DETstru @ wannabe @anushka: Thank you so much for your suggestions and advice.
I got a code reference for Internal non-load bearing partitions – DIN 4103-1
@ hokie66: For find out reliable forces and deflection STAAD Pro V8i Used.
@ Dhengr : Please find the attached model. Hangers channel size C-12x19 0.9THK mm Stabilizer size C- 14x38 1mm THK Bracing L-25x250.9mm. I took 1.0 DL + 1.0 EQ load and that one is the critical load

I am designing steel framed structures to support ceilings. All the hangers are fixed with ceiling with expansion anchors. In staad model if we consider the connection as pinned it fails in deflection but all the utilization ratios are very small. how we can conclude whether it is pinned or...
