    Outside Air Compressor Exhaust

It's a Cameron Centrifugal Air Compressor. The requirements in the handbook state "The compressor should not be installed in a confined area where the discharge air would be allowed to recirculate back through the inlet ports." So, it's not very specific.

    Outside Air Compressor Exhaust

There is no fuel. This is for a compressed air system providing instrument and service air to various components. The heat leaving the fan is the heat generated by compression and a fan cools the air at each compression stage (3). The fan then removes the hot air and sends it upward at the flow...

    Outside Air Compressor Exhaust

All, I have an air cooled air compressor located outside and I would like to know how the exhaust heat coming from the fan on top of the compressor is calculated. The manufacturer is telling me that the discharge flow from the fan can range from 15,000 to 20,000 cfm and it may contain as much...

Air Cooled Centrifugal vs. Air Rotary Screw compressors

Since its for a power plant, we are not concerned about energy costs, more concerned about reliability.

Air Cooled Centrifugal vs. Air Rotary Screw compressors

The new compressor will be a 1000 scfm centrifugal and will replace a 1500 scfm rotary screw. The system demand is around 700 scfm so the rotary screw is over sized and has a ton of maintenance issues. The main reason for the centrifugal is for its high reliability. I hoping that the hot summer...

Air Cooled Centrifugal vs. Air Rotary Screw compressors

I am not to worried about the compression process as I know that will work in the environmental conditions. I am more worried about using air to cool the compressor when the air temperature will change throughout the year.

Air Cooled Centrifugal vs. Air Rotary Screw compressors

By air cooled I mean the cooling media is air and not water to cool the high temperatures exhibited by the compression. Both the current and the replacement are dry screw. Where those compressors that you listed in those environments air or water cooled?

Air Cooled Centrifugal vs. Air Rotary Screw compressors

I am evaluating replacing an Air-Cooled Rotary Screw Air Compressor with an air cooled centrifugal air compressor or an air cooled rotary screw air compressor in the southeast USA. I am told that an air cooled centrifugal air compressors can not operate during the hot summer months; however, the...

Welding two different SS in SW Piping

Hi, I am replacing service water (lake water) piping at a power plant and I had a question in regards to welding two different medals. I am told that welding AL-6XN high alloy SS (20.5% Cr, 24% Ni, 6.3% Mo)to a 316 SS flange is still resistant to Microbiological corrosion (MIC). I don't see how...

    Compressor Selection and Sizing

I forgot to mention that there are four receiving tanks at 150 cu ft each (Two for the service air system and two for the instrument air system). Also, since it is a power plant and they produce power they have very little concern for efficiency and power consumption.

    Compressor Selection and Sizing

They are starting and stopping only on low nd high pressure bands

    Compressor Selection and Sizing

The 1500 scfm compressor only operates when the first two are undergoing maintenance, therefore all 3 compressors are not used to meet plant demand. Additionally, this is for instrument and service air at a power plant so they need instrument air supplied at all times, even when under...

    Compressor Selection and Sizing

I have 3 rotary screw air compressors used to meet plant design demand at about 925 scfm with a receiver tank capacity of 150 cu ft. Two of the compressors are sized at 640 scfm to act as two 50% compressors and the 3rd compressors is sized at 1500 scfm for back up when the other two are being...
